MANTUA FESTIVAL

The fourth Mantua Lives Festival will be held in Ballinagare, Co.Roscommon from the 1st - 3rd of August this year. From its humble beginnings, Mantua has grown in size and reputation quickly with its blend of top underground music, party atmosphere and great bang for its buck.
This years main stage sees some excellent visitors from afar, including the sublime Icelandic electronic act, Múm..South Africa's hottest exponents of African tinged psych rock, BLK JKS.. UK based Gravenhurst and The Victorian English Gentlemen's Club.. the unbelievably funky Poets of Rhythm from Germany, and from the states, Ninja Tunes electronic/hip hop producer Daedelus and the massive Build An Ark.
The Alphabet Set collective continue its involvement with the Mantua festival, with a lineup of cutting edge electronic music from the likes of Warp stalwart Clark, Planet Mu's Ital Tek & Ambulance side project Sunken Foal, dubstep innovators such as the eclectic production duo, Various Production, Shackleton, Cotti and the excellent Clouds from Finland promise to have the bass rattling your chestplate. Alphabet set's own will be representing with the likes of Super Extra Bonus Party, Sarsparilla and Solen amongst others, and Sunday its beats & rhymes time headlined by Taskforcebringing their tales of london estates to the countryside alongside Irish Hip Hop acts such as Infomatics, Project 77 and galway scratch demons, VinceMcMahon.
The Rootical reggae stage this year has the honor of bringing to Irish shores some of the UK and Jamaica's finest exponents of roots and culture. From London city, Festus Coxsone has been running sincethe late 60s and was inspiration to the likes of Jah Shaka. Veteran Singers and DJs such as the (now very famous!) Levi Roots, the excellent Rod Taylor and Tena Stelin, feature alongide new and up and coming artists suchas much vetted Jah Marnyah & Madu. As do some of the UK's top roots sound crews such as Conscious Sounds, Word Sound & Power and the Vibronics.
There will be two new stages this year, the Dionysus stage promises to offer the best of Irish and UK undergroundmusic, ranging from ragin', retro rockabilly; cutting edge, experimental, riff-churning beat-combos to outright insanity,and the Low End arena hosted by !Kaboogie, Reach & Wobble will feature sets from the best Irish Djs and Producersrolling out ruffneck jungle to the heaviest blistering breakcore to the deepest in dub explorations providing bass music for your head and for your feet.
