Where do you go when you’ve won an Ivor Novello Award, had 29 hit singles including number ones on both sides of the Atlantic, and sold millions of albums? If you are ex-Bananarama and Shakespears Sister singer Siobhan Fahey, you go back to your roots and start recording and performing underground, glam, post-punk, pop; you set up your own record label to release the music you want to release; you start DJing in some of the world’s more outré nightspots.
Siobhan Fahey’s first band, Bananarama, worked with the likes of the Sex Pistols’ Paul Cook, Paul Weller and the Fun Boy Three and entered the Guiness book of records as the biggest girl band on the planet, after clocking up numerous UK hit singles, an American number 1 and 5 hit albums.Siobhan’s second band, Shakespears Sister, became the biggest girl duo ever, selling 2.5 million albums, enjoying an 8 week stint at number 1 in the UK singles chart, and number 4 in the US with the epic “Stayâ€, headlining Glastonbury, playing Celtic park with Prince and achieving the coveted Ivor Novello award for writing the “outstanding contemporary song collection†of 1992.In 2002After collaborating with DJ duo The Psychonauts on their album, she released her first solo single, “bitter pill†remixed by the Droyds and released on their label ‘god made me hardcore†. (This track has just been covered by The Pussycat Dolls for their new album).
Next She then worked with Joe Corre (son of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren), recording Joy Division's “She’s lost control†for his Agent Provocateur compilation. Siobhan is putting the finishing touches to her first solo album and gaining a profile in Britain as a DJ and underground electro star.setting up her own label ,SF records, to release her new music she has released the singles Cold, remixed by Death in vegas and Pulsatron,remixed by Whitey , both of which have garnered rave reviews . SF Records has also released the ‘lost’ third Shakespears Sister album (entitled ..3) to critical acclaim and the delight of her fans.
Right now Siobhan is putting the finishing touches to her first solo album and gaining a profile in Britain as a DJ and underground electro star.Siobhan’s live appearances have been sell outs and she is gigging regularly in the hippest clubs around Britain and Europe, where a whole new generation are discovering her stylish, pop anarchy for the first time.She is about to release her next single on 17th October .
