About Me

Born and raised in Harlesden N.W London in the UK, a hive of soul and reggae music culture - David Brant grew up listening to the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and other 60's, 70's & 80's Soul greats. Drumming was his main passion and soon took up the keys as his natural musical talent progressed....
When he left school, he studied Music Technology for a couple of years before jumping into studio engineering and programming, cutting his teeth recording and mixing some of the biggest underground dance artists of the 90's. In 1996 David signed his first publishing deal to independent publisher Reverb Music, built on his work with girl band N-TYCE, who were signed to Telstar Records. After setting up his own studio, David built upon his production skills, developing various artists and worked with some of the best co-writers in the industry, the likes of:Alan Glass (Aretha Franklin, George Benson) Steve Salvari (Moondance Musik),Michelle Escoffery (Liberty X), Maryanne Morgan (Sugababes), Ron St.Louis (Mocha Soul), Conner Reeves (Blue, Joss Stone)
David went on to co-write and produce a song called "Why?" with Ron St.Louis and Alan Glass, which he then demo'ed with up and coming girl-band. A friend of his, DJ Darren Stokes (Tin Tin Out) heard the song and passed it over to successful indie dance label Inferno Records who signed the girls up and gained a no.8 UK chart position the following year in 2001. On the back of that breakthrough song, David also penned and produced "All I Want" with Alan Glass & Maryanne Morgan, which topped the charts at No.2 in July that same year, which is still to this day Mis-Teeq's most successful and popular single. Subsequently, Mis-teeq's album flew into the top.3 of the UK album charts.
On the back of those 2 hit singles, David and his team were asked to write with new V2 signing Liberty X. They wrote a track called "I Got What You Want" on the album "Thinking It Over" which went top 5 in the UK album charts and soon sold double platinum. David also co-wrote/produced 'Stop Stop' plus other songs for beautiful R&B/POP band TYMES4, signed to Edel Records, which was released in Europe and further afield in Asia and Japan.
His reputation as a songwriter and producer grew, but he still continued to nurture new acts. In early 2003 David met up with Ipswich based male artist Nate James and worked for over 2 years developing his sound. The breakthrough single "Set The Tone" (co-written with Nate James & Dawn Joseph, threw Nate into the music industrys spotlight, gaining huge support from the top R&B DJ's in the UK.
On the back of this single, Nate was signed to indie label ONETWO records to record the album. David co-produced half the album alongside one of his keyboard player heroes Peter John Vitesse (Go West) - and co-writing the material with long time writing partners; Ron St.Louis (Mis-Teeq), Dawn Joseph (Sugababes) and Alan Glass (Mis-teeq, Liberty X).
David also works closely with life long pals Michael Scherchen & Fidel Rosales (AKA funkiipapa) who are both extremely talented producers and musicians themselves, also Sarah Ozelle (Sony Publishing) a fantastic singer/songwriter - great backing vocalist who has recorded and gigged with many established artists in the UK.
He continues to build his profile as one of the UK's finest crossover R&B/POP/ROCK producers, and is currently writing with Doris Pearson - 1/5th of his all time favourite 80's bands Five Star! Also Alex Geringas from Hamburg, Germany - who has had a string of number no.1 hits to his name. David has also written and or produced for the likes of: Natalie Williams, Jamie Scott, Jay Sean, Triple 8, Rhian Benson, Maria Lawson (X Factor), Javine Hylton, Louise Redknapp (ex Eternal) and has more recently nurtured up and coming UK Talents such as: Madeleine Wilson, Marie Miller, Nosheen, Zarif (who is now signed to RCA)
David's major projects for 07/08 are rock/pop solo artist Stewart Mac...check his MySpace page on my top friends list.
David and his 'Vybrant' brand of music is spreading throughout the industry and he's always on the look out for new and upcoming artists to develop. After many years of experience of producing and writing for girlbands such as N-tyce, Precious, Mis-Teeq, Ladies First, Tymes 4, Genie Queen, David has now focused his energy into starting his own girl band CINDERELLA THEORY in partnership with singer/songwriter and friend Errol Reid (known for his singing talents in CHINA BLACK). C.T are a 3 piece girlband, Jayne, Corrine and Jade - a mixture of sexy, sassy, street smart ladies with tough beats and strong harmonies....So WATCH THIS SPACE!!!
