Born and raised in Chicago, Brian Boncher began spinning records for his friends at house parties in 1992. With an obvious flare for blending his music, Brian quickly found his way onto the local club circuit in 1996 when he took first place in the 92.7 “In The Mix†radio show DJ contest. The win allowed Brian to expose his music to the station's regular listeners while he continued weekly spots on the Sunday night show and began multiple residencies throughout Chicago's night club circuit.
In 1997, Brian began working as the House Buyer at Superdance Records where he later bought the store and has since transformed it into a web based portal for DJs all over the World. Understanding the need to keep his music easily available for those who supported his events; Brian quickly began selling mix CD compilations across Chicagoland leading him into a deal with Flash Traxx Records, a sub label of Strictly Hype Recordings, where he provided 2 remixes to the label prior to the release of his first original production entitled “The Pro Tools EPâ€
Brian's portfolio soon began gaining recognition from some of the best DJs based out of Chicago. No matter the crowd, Brian has always been able to create an incomparable vibe. Hooking up with Chicago based talents like Alex Peace and DJ Bam Bam; Brain began expanding his demographics with performances throughout the Mid West in 2000. With the additional momentum, Brian's Chicago based performances increased where he began DJing for high profile productions such as: Stardust, Boogie Down Christmas, Enigma, and many more.
Pursuing his dreams for global exposure; Brian entered the first DJ Sasha remix contest for Kinetic Records where he was in the Top 10 finalists. With the support of World Renown production company Spundae, Brian began playing along side World Class talents like Jimmy Van M, Max Graham and Bad Boy Bill. Rocking sell out venues like Vision Night Club, Transit, and Spy Bar Chicago; Brian never slowed down. In 2002 Alex Peace launched his label entitled ‘_FADEDMUZIK'. With the launch of the label, Alex came to Brian for a remix of the first EP. ‘Inside the Speaker' released with DJ Bam Bam's original mix and Brian's “Trunk Bump†remix. The remix was charted across the globe and was quickly picked up by Belgium label Sonical Records. This exposure in Europe proved to be a launching point for Brian.
In 2003 Brian bought out his employer at Superdance. His first act as owner was to increase product to the retail side of the business by creating a DJ friendly online store and sponsoring special events throughout Chicago's night clubs. This provided Brian the ability to market his new business to the masses and as if this newly acquired business and his DJ career weren't enough, Brian quickly moved his studio into the store where he launched ‘B Down Records'. The first EP on his new label consisted of 4 tracks and held top selling positions in most US Vinyl Shops. In 2004 Brian created a new DJ Workshop at the store teaching young aspiring DJs the tools and techniques of mixing music. Since then, Brian has released additional production on _FADEDMUZIK as well as B Down Records and Distorted Muzik. His production is being played by the likes of Carl Cox and his second EP recently licensed to Lego for re-release on Pootin Music in 2007.
Most recently Brian became an essential pillar for Distorted Muzik and Impact Mechanics (Submerge 101's techno label) gearing up for three new releases before 2008's WMC. These projects include remix work by Brian but also additional production from Aaron Chase, Mark Almaria, Bryan Cox, Lego, and Charles Feelgood. Brian has extended the Distorted Muzik name to include pre-mastering and additional production services as well as DJing custom events like Chicago's Fashion Week 2006 and the opening of the Woodfield Express store. With so much to offer the Electronic Music Community, it's no wonder Brian has been so successful in all he has accomplished.
