What do you do if none of your friends can DJ
and you want to throw Parties at your
parents' house while they're away?
You learn to DJ of course! Well, that's how Madrid
born and bred DJ and producer, Thopa, began his
career, anyway. That was almost 10 years ago.
Since then he's played at Spain's
WOMAD festival, earned himself a residency at London's
AKA, at Madrid´s famous Sundance, and has been snapped up recently by Tony Thoma´s label, Ambioesphere, Barcelona´s minimal label FourLine Records, and has also released along Mastiksoul on Kitsam Recordings. Old releases include Dutch online label, OnMix productions,Often Gruven Records ,Canada, and Villa trap Records, Madrid.
His music has flavours of tech house, techno, and even breaks
in places. It's dark, it's intricate, and it builds and builds.
Current influences include Spain´s label CMYK, Trapez, Ovum, Leftroom..
But scratch the surface, and you'll find something very different.
"I used to be a metal head," he admits. "So I guess I was very influenced then by bands like Sepultura, Korn, and Pantera"
" I´ve produced many different music styles; house, progressive house, and techno" "But nowdays I mostely like to produce minimal techno" "Bleeps, blurps and squeeks"
