About Me

Sauci Calla Horra performs with, and is the Bookings/ Business Manager for Toronto's Skin Tight Outta Sight Rebel Burlesque Troupe. She is a minxy mistress of disguises. One moment, she’s a prima ballerina en pointe, the next she’s our comely clown of comedy! With an Honours degree in Theatre and Psychology, Sauci is a social worker by day… burlesque vixen by night. She has broken up many a backstage catfight! She had her debut on Valentine’s Day 2002, at an Amateur night hosted by Tanya Cheex, and there was no looking back for this charismatic chameleon. Whether rising from a giant clamshell for her “Venus” act, pulling chili pepper lights out of her panties in “For The Birds,” or putting her ten years of ballet training to use in “The Dance of the Stripping Swan,” Sauci always enjoys performing, and it shows. She sees burlesque as a feminist statement, where women can reclaim their sexuality and power in an entertaining (and titillating!) way. www.skintightouttasight.com

My Interests

Burlesque, ballet, reading, cooking, travelling, fetish, art and photography, psychology, community development and social justice issues.

I'd like to meet:

Sophia Loren, Kitty West (the original Evangeline The Oyster Girl), Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Lili St. Cyr, Anna Pavlova, Marlene Dietrich... Genuine, down-to-earth people with penchants for the unusual, and fabulous talents!

Music:

Opera, classical, Iggy Pop or punk.... I'll be shimmying off the clothes and shakin' my butt!

Movies:

I like lots of old movies, like "Some Like It Hot" but I also have a penchant for cheese and films that are so bad, they're good! Terrified by stumbling into a late night screening of "Freaks" at the age of four, I was too chicken to actually watch a horror movie until I was eighteen! Horror films still give me nightmares sometimes but I cannot resist... Favourite films include "The Thing" and Dario Argento's "Suspiria," but also "Blue Velvet," "Repo Man," and "Being John Malkovich." I must also admit a love for old Disney movies, and I'm a sucker for the original "Star Wars" trilogy and "Lord of the Rings." Lately, Ive been getting into japanese anime flicks, but those with more of a fantasy bent, and Hong Kong thrillers.

Television:

I don't watch a lot of TV. In the past, I've liked South Park, The Family Guy and Iron Chef.

Books:

Anything by Margaret Atwood; "Life of Pi;" "Geek Love;" "The Psalm Killer;" "She's Come Undone;" "The Bell Jar." I also like to read cookbooks so I can get inspired to make gourmet meals. I must confess to a penchant for books that makes me cry (that doesn't include the cookbooks, silly!)

Heroes:

I count Dirty Martini, Jo Boobs, Erochica Bamboo, and Michelle L'Amour amongst my modern burley-que heroes. Wow- can those girls ever dance! And they are so very nice too! My girlfriend, Lori aka "My Personal Yoda" is always a source of inspiration and hope for me. My Aunts Loretta, and Jan, for keeping my head on straight!
