About Me

MSN Screename & Email address = [email protected]
AIM Screename = Hyst88
I am Dj Hyst (pronounced Heist) from the Break.Fast Crew in Atlanta Georgia. I've been DJing nearly 20 years. Was big into spinnin' raves in the 90's here in the Southeast, and helped run Rewind Records in Atlanta for three years with Hutch, Bobble, J-Luv, Shortee, Dr. Fumanchu, Eric Zheno and other cool platter turners. Also got to meet and play with many of the deejays and producers whose vinyl I kept stocked at the store, many of whom I'm still friends with today. Now .. still deejaying but more involved professionally as a recording engineer, studio consultant and instructor. I work with artists from all genres ... hip-hop to rock, electronica to jazz, even reggae .... and work with local musicians and companies to build custom computer systems and digital audio workstations.
ProChops Music and Audio Fixx!
Other than that, what can I say ... I love my friends ... I love to party, but not quite as often as I used to ... I love to make *ASSES* move with a dirty bassline. I must have been a bartender in another life. If I had to live with one liquor it would probably be Rum. I'm a great conversationalist ... I have no problem speaking my mind. I'm a pretty good camera-man and can hack my way through simple graphic design, as you'll see on my page. Tweakin' knobs is by business though.
...
*The ProChops website hasn't been designed yet. I'll create a separate profile for that soon. I took the phone numbers off the biz cards for MySpace. If you want to reach me, message or email me.
Jacksonville Beach Florida is my home now and I take full advantage of "beach life". Wanna come and visit? Right now, just got a new apartment, but I don't have a steady job to pay the bills ... so if anyone out there is from Jacksonville and is hiring, hit me up. Part-time or Full-time. Outside of that ... just going out, meeting new people ... reconnecting with old friends too.
I'm recently single after being with a girl for 6 years ... so I'm learning how to live the single-life once again. Mostly just trying to make more friends in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas and find fun people to hang with. I DJ at some of the clubs in town, and other times ... just go out to clubs and events. I know a few peeps from this town, but not nearly enough. So, hit me up if you want to come to one of my nights, or if there's a party I should be at ... it's more fun when I'm there. Trust me!

My Interests

Recording, producing, audio engineering, DJ'ing, meeting and listening to great musicians, live bands and artists; going to the beach and drinking something with RUM and an umbrella in it; livin' like a rock-star and slappin' asses!

I'd like to meet:

Maybe you! Artists .. musical or otherwise .. liberal thinkers .. rockers .. intellectuals .. beautiful people .. Zen Masters .. Dragon slayers .. someone who will push me to be more .. someone who understands I am more than what they see .. people who make me laugh .. people who can shut me up .. just to name a few. Just watch my slide show of pics and you'll have a great idea of my kind of fun and good times. To resist would be futile!

.....

Attn New Friends: Don't *SPAM* up my comments section! It's ok to promote an event or some music from here and there ... but .. if we just met, and you haven't really talked to me ... or ...if you're not a nuschool breaks producer or dj I've worked with in the past .... and you put a bunch of adverts for some death-metal-jungle-core or click here to see naked chics on some other site .. type crap in my comments section ... you will get booted from my friends list. Digg? I give special privileges to Nuskool breaks, downtempo and overseas producers I've worked with before ... but that's about it. Even you hot ladies .. it's cool to say hello and put up funny pics and stuff, but please don't advertise for random websites in my comments section. Cool?

Music:

Nu Skool breaks, break-step, uk garage, deep-house, downtempo, jazz, hip-hop, reggae, intelligent d&b, 80's, industrial, r&b, rare groove, various types of rock, funky house, old-school rap & funk, some classical .... ANYTHING WITH SOUL!!! ---

Movies:

"Scratch" the movie/documentary (love ya Faust N Shortee!), School of Rock, Harry Potter, Live concerts on DVD (like Peter Gabriel live from Brazil '94), skin flicks, Dazed and Confused, anything from Kevin Smith .... I don't do as many movies as I should to feed my imagination

Television:

Wide Angle, Independent Lense, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Paula Dean, Family Guy ... try not to watch much TV

Books:

Sound-on-Sound magazine, Mix, PC Magazine, Electronic Musician and alot of techy gear-whore shit. Most of those are really magazines, but the books I read are mostly things like "How to engineer the perfect recording" or "Studio Design 101" and shit like that.

Heroes:

Larry Flint, Bill Clinton, NOT GEORGE BUSH, Jimmy Carter, Bill Maher, Hugh Hefner ... people who are more about love, peace and chill vibes .. than they are about war, fame, and $$.

If you need to reach me

If you need to reach me, the best way might be by phone for a week or two.  The only way I'll have internet at my new apartment in that time ... is if someone has an unsecured network over there....
