Founded by childhood schoolmates in 1997 in Tampere, Finland, Plain Fade presents the listener with a rich world of sharp contrasts where slow dynamic build-ups erupt into majestic chaos or delicate melodies collide with ambient-type of minimalism. A Slavic sense of melancholy and North European nature alongside an urban feeling of detachment and the depths of the human mind all participate in the atmospheres of Plain Fade's music.
After the 2003-single "Datura", Punos Sound released Plain Fade's first full-length album, "Lies, Sanctions and Cruise Missiles" in March 2005. The recordings were made with the long-time producer and a friend, Janne Jokinen, in various places, including the band's rehearsal space and the Cathedral of Tampere. The album won huge critical acclaim and the band did various shows with some respected alternative-music acts (such as Cult of Luna (swe), Pedigree (est), Callisto, Magyar Posse, Kuusumun Profeetta). Shortly after releasing the debut album, the band spent four days improvising and recording at guitarist Juho Koivuaho's summer cottage at Lake Aurejärvi in the Finnish countryside. After quite an amount of editing and mixing with the ambient-noise-electronic mastermind Raihi Riihimäki, Plain Fade's experimental second album, "Aure", was released on the 15th of November 2006 through Punos Sound. After the release of the album and a few live shows, the band members concentrated on other projects for a while a got back together at the autumn 2007 to seek new moods with their expression and compose new material.
