Lea's solo jazz releases include Play It Cool, Double Standards, and Lea DeLaria - The Very Best Of. Lea has also guested on albums by Janette Mason (Din and Tonic) and Ian Shaw (Drawn to All Things...the Songs of Joni Mitchell), and is a featured vocalist on the Broadway revival cast recording of The Rocky Horror Show, as well as Hair – The Actors' Fund of America Benefit Recording.
Lea's next jazz album, Swingin' at Smoke, was recorded live at Smoke Jazz Club in New York City in October 2007 and is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2008.
Lea has appeared in the films Fat Rose and Squeaky, Mercury in Retrograde, Edge of Seventeen, Homo Heights, Plump Fiction, The First Wives Club and Rescuing Desire. She is also the headlining performer in the Outlaugh! 2005 comedy festival DVD.

With her guest spot on The Arsenio Hall Show in 1993, Lea was the first openly gay entertainer to appear on national television.
