Shire is a joint mixture of seasoned musicians, who have been playing together for about six years. Four years ago Shire decided to build their own studio and rehearsing facility, thus making conditions ideal for any creative forces to flow freely.

If you take a closer look at the five band members, you'll see singer Dennis Holmgreen in the lead. He has been working with music his whole life, basically. Starting with The Copenhagen Boys Choir and a childhood home filled by great musical inspiration. When he met Nicolas Hammer as a teenager, they started experimenting with different kind of musical genres, and have gradually developed, not only a very personal expression, sound-wise, but also a rather well documented lyrical sphere, that has been a heavy influence in Shires storytelling tradition ever since.

Guitarist Flemming Skytte entered the band with instant recognisable characteristics, adding new dimensions to Shires musical profile. Flemming Skyttes wall of sound approach, has long since become a musical trademark for the band. When Brian Dagø eventually picked up the vacant drummers position, Shire finally found that solid musical platform to explore and conquer. This has since been spiced by Bettina Mariager's backing vocals, now evident in Shires multible recordings and performances.
