About Me

Leaving Lilburn began as solo project in the early summer of 2000. Singer/Song writer Lee Gray was finishing up 10th grade, and preparing to move from Lilburn, Georgia to Douglasville, Georgia. After a half day of finals at Parkview High School, Lee was sitting on his back porch, playing guitar, and waiting for some friends to drop by. While waiting that afternoon Lee wrote the words to his first song. It was written about a girl who he had a crush on at the time. Lee named it the L.W. song. With the new school year at Alexander High School Lee found himself with a lot of extra time on his hands. He was new to the West Georgia area and didn't have many friends to pass the time with . Lee spent most of 11th grade writing songs and traveling back to Lilburn to see family and friends. At the beginning of 12th grade Lee became good buddies with a few guys (Brian Gray & Alex Mayske) in his 3rd period guitar class. After months of playing music, recording songs, and partying together, they introduced Lee to their guitar player Shon Harding (future bassist and recording engineer for Leaving Lilburn). Over the next few months Alex, Shon, and Matt Watness (future drummer for Leaving Lilburn) tracked and mixed a small handful of Lee's solo songs, producing Leaving Lilburn's very first demo. Two years, and 27 open mic nights later Leaving Lilburn slowly started to morph into a three piece. With the addition of Matt on drums, and Alex on bass Leaving Lilburn seemed complete...... But not for long....... In march of 2005 Matt and Lee decided to move Leaving Lilburn to Orlando, fl. In the moving process Alex chose to stay in Georgia and retired his bass to Shon.
