Putting the f.u. back in team

About Me

A little too sarcastic, intelligent, and funny for my own good. Modest too. I love booze and food and the little things that make life worth living.

My Interests

Reading, cooking, wine, cocktails (hell, all booze is fine by me), dancing, movies, exotic fitness methods, theatre, biking, Penn Science Cafe, comparative religions, Zen Buddhism, fashion, Dark Garden corsets, Bettie Page, Masuimi Max, Dita Von Teese. Does anyone actually ADMIT to being "a swinger" on this thing? They probably do and that's annoying.

I'd like to meet:

If you think Bettie Page is the height of hotness, then we'd probably get along. If you think she was fat, then don't bother me.

Music:

RATM, Soundgarden, Chris Whitley (the FIRST album), Gorillaz, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Von Bondies, Jeff Buckley, Old Crow Medicine Show, PJ Harvey, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Audioslave, X

Movies:

The Seven Samurai; Ran; Heavenly Creatures; Fight Club; High Plains Drifter; Alien; Aliens; Pitch Black; The Chronicles of Riddick; La Femme Nikita (NOT the wretched Bridget Fonda remake); The Wrong Trousers; Richard III; Orlando; Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control; Boondock Saints; Memento; Blade Runner; Clerks; Brotherhood of the Wolf

Television:

Firefly (curse you FOX for cancelling it!), Battlestar Galactica (the new Sci-Fi version), UFO programming, wacky crap on the History Channel, Tyler Florence

Books:

I just got some new Neil Gaiman books from Zillah, so I have to get to work on those.

Heroes:

Buddha, Mary Magdalene, Queen Elizabeth I, Jesus Christ, my parents, anyone who puts others' lives before their own

My Blog

I should have stock in the makers of Aleve and Motrin

As a friend of mine might say, menstruation (and in her particular case--labor) are obvious indicators that God is male, because no woman would come up with this system. ...

473.0

I found myself sitting at work today thinking, "you know...I could totally knock out a few miles right when I get home and before I have to get ready to go out tonight." I asked Wil to come out, but h...

476.2

Ended up alone at the beginner's run and still talked myself into doing 2.5 miles. Cold out there though.

This week in food

This week's recipe is lifted from a friend--slow-cooked pork. I had a hankering to do this one overnight on Sunday and then ended up having to do a multi-store search for an appropriate piece of pork....

478.7

A nice 2.69 miles tonight. A little slower than I was hoping for, but less stress than in colder weather.

I bet Dita doesn't get weird skin issues

My skin allergy decided to rear its very ugly head this weekend. It's baffling because almost everything I have an identified allergy to (cats, dogs, spring pollens, cockroaches, dust mites...well, ok...

481.4

Ran a coldass 3k in Glassboro, NJ this afternoon. Had to stop to walk twice (I think on these colder days, a few extra puffs on the inhaler is in order) and still managed to finish in 31:21, my best t...

This week in food

I've had some culinary successes during the last week and a half. Made a second batch of chicken tortilla soup using an Emeril recipe. Made it my own by adding chipotles canned in adobo sauce. If you ...

Miss Autoimmune Disorder 2007

On Monday I had a breathing challenge with a respiratory therapist. This basically involves breathing in a smooth muscle antagonist and then conducting a couple of different breathing exercises. I had...

An easy two miles last night at the SoPhi Striders beginner's run. I was supposed to be "leading" it but not much leading was required. Slightly warmer than I expected and no precipitation. Rizzo Rink...
