Following the critical acclaim of their debut 'Where The Killers Run', VIAROSA have recently completed work on the second album 'Righteous Path'. Reviews of 'Where The Killers Run' brought comparisons to many of the greats. Their initial EP 'Porous' inspired UNCUT MAGAZINE to describe the band as:
"OUTSTANDING - LIKE THE BIRTHDAY PARTY DOING JOHNNY CASH".
And when the release of the LP came, UNCUT continued in its four star praise:
"VIAROSA FULFIL THE PROMISE... A COUNTRY-WIRED ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN."
See the blog above for more superb reviews.
'Where The Killers Run' is a collection of extraordinary tales, many of the songs crafted as if they belonged to some distant mediaeval past. The songs are like mythic, noir ballads of sin and salvation, of persecution and redemption, and the words are beautifully woven around singer-songwriter Richard Neuberg's own difficult life stories. Despite the lyrical pains, however, the band create such a dynamic soundscape that you cannot help but be lifted by their artistry. There are mandolins, banjos, steel guitars and musical saws, and Josh Hillman's plaintive violin sings throughout, like another voice circling Emma Seal's velvet harmonies and Richard's powerful lead vocals.
The forthcoming second album 'Righteous Path' takes VIAROSA to dramatic new heights. There is the same bedrock of instrumentation, but both the band and the new songs reach out with increased passion and urgency. Whereas the debut album pulses with a sense of grief, 'Righteous Path' is a visceral calling for new life. Keep checking back to hear songs from this incredible new album.
'WHERE THE KILLERS RUN' will be re-released all over Europe on November 20th '06.
You'll also be able to download the album worldwide very soon.
