The term Samsara refers to the cycle of reincarnation or rebirth in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and other related religions. It is derived from "to flow together," to go or pass through states, to wander. Mostly a great revolving door between life and death and a new life reincarnated cycle of life.
Samsara Blues Experiment is not only a mixture of languages, as even ideas or cults and musical influences. Like in those "humble beginnings" of Psychedelic Rock in the 1960s you will find heavy fuzz-distorted guitars and experiments with a load of soundeffects, as well as influences from Blues and Folk combined with Indian Classical Raga music.
The band has been build up from the fragments of Terraplane after their split in summer 2007. Created on the vision of guitarplayer Christian Peters, to continue the groove of extended Jam Psychedelia combined with his grown influence of Raga. Since the earlier steps the band went through several line-up changes and seems to become quite stable as a four-piece. Since June 2008 we have Christian Peters on Vocals; Lead-Guitar; Organ/Synth; Sample-Effects and Sitar, Michele Gambarara on Rhythm-Guitar and Jaw Harp, the future soundengineer Richard Behrens on Bass and Thomas Vedder on Drums and Percussion.
You will find the actual sound of SBE in comparison somewhere between newer age Doom Rock and bluesy Psychedelia. Imagine Robin Trower jamming with the guys from Sleep and add some Sitar. Kind of outstanding stuff, you know...
