Troy Thompson is an award winning artsist and is currently working fevourishly on his debut release. Having toured solidly for two years with his old band TLS, Troy is taking the logical steps and concentrating on his hugely expanding repetoire, arranging-composing-recording-producing up to 50 of his original tracks. A multi-talented instrumentalist, Troy is a more than competent guitarist, bassist, & vocalist. He also dabbles with percussion, keys/organ/synths and drum programming. Troy's overall musical strengths lie in his extremely catchy songwriting, having been awarded with winning Australia's largest and influential, nationwide unsigned act/s competition- MUSIC OZ. Along with his old band, Troy took out the award for Best Rock Category 2004. Most acts to have won this competition have gone on to sign with Major or Independant record labels. After leaving his band back in February of 2007, Troy has concentrated solely on his own material, with the view to release an album of completely original songs sometime in 2008 or early 2009! Some of the tracks currently being worked on date way back to 1998-99, then there are tracks from his days in his old band; and finally a new bunch of songs written/composed over the last six months. Troys music is a mishmash of sounds and styles, songs include everything from Pop, Rock, Reggae & Heavy Rock etc. Troy has been influenced by many great artists over the years from The Beatles/John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley & The Wailers, The Who and more recently Fishbone, Living Colour, Rage Against The Machine, Ben Harper & Faith No More/Mike Patton. Troy's solo sound has great depth and great diversity, which will easily lend it'self to mainstream and independant radio. The future is strong and exciting for this award winning artist, with plans to get a backing band together, tour Australia-wide and finally release an album which has been his life's work!
