" I grew up on folk music ( JONI MITCHELL), rock and roll (PINK FLOYD), pop/jazz (STEELY DAN), and soul (STEVIE WONDER). I'm a product of post civil rights California. My Parents were progressive. They rebelled against the stereo types and traditions they grew up on and took an experimental approach with my upbringing.
" I'm a Los Angeles born singer who has worked with acts like LOU REED, BILLY IDOL and EURYTHMICS. As fate would have it , PINK FLOYD (the Godfathers of Psychedelia) gave me my first exposure to the road on their "Momentary Lapse of Reason " and "Delicate Sound of Thunder " tours. I followed that by touring with the ROLLING STONES. Both the Stones and The Floyd gave me the chance to be both operatic and bluesy, featuring me in duet with MICK JAGGER on "GIMMIE SHELTER" and "GREAT GIG IN THE SKY" respectively.
My talent in both songwriting and arranging caught the attention of NILE RODGERS (MADONNA, DAVID BOWIE, CHIC) who produced my songs for SISTER SLEDGE "Dancing On The Jagged Edge" and PHILLIP BAILEY ( EARTH WIND and FIRE)"Because Of You.".
I have continued to work as an Artist, Singer, Songwriter, Executive, and Producer. I have a varied and versatile professional background. I studied the recording industry at UCLA, covering the fields of - Artist Management, Marketing, Songwriting and Record Production.
I began my career as assistant account executive for Barney’s New York at The Epstein Rayboy Advertising Agency. I worked with noted art director Marc Balet (INTERVIEW MAGAZINE, DETAILS MAGAZINE). I produced radio spots for Barney’s as well as writing and co-producing music for Palmers Cocoa Butter formula Product line.
I then founded Song Of The Lorelei Publishing, and Song Of The Lorelei Productions Inc., and progressed to recording, songwriting and background singing, with the legendary Record producer Nile Rodgers who has sold upwards of 100,000,000 records over the course of his career. My experiences include work in publishing, touring, music video, film, television and live stage performance.
My credit highlights include: The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Sister Sledge, Aaron Neville, (Earth, Wind and Fire’s) Phillip Bailey, Lou Reed, The Eurhymics, Billy Idol, Patti LaBelle, Luther Vandross, Diana Ross among many others.
Following a brief stint recording and writing for Don Welch (Founder of The Underground Network) at Prelude Music, I was offered the position of Music Division President for his OHM Music and Film Works. I helped supervise the making of Hip Hop artist Warrior’s “The Perfect Weapon” CD, providing songwriters, musicians and my own singing, writing and production talents to the project. I also assisted in the development of the company’s web site.
Nile Rodger’s created a partnership with Microsoft, Simon and Schuster and MTV. He then selected two songs from Warrior ‘s CD “The Perfect Weapon” to be featured in the XBox game “ Outlaw Volleyball”. Mr. Rodger’s selected me to assist with the project’s accompanying soundtrack venture. OHM has also given me the opportunity to produce a movie house commercial called “Got Braces”. It was done in association with the Emmy award winning Global Vision Inc. and award winning director Yvette Tomlinson. As senior talent coordinator and event supervisor I assisted in the production and promotion of events for GRACE JONES, MELBA MOORE and FREDDIE JACKSON for the OHM and Underground Networks’ concert division.
My foundation in the advertising and record industries, along with my experience as a creative entity have given me the business acumen and artist vision to provide numerous skills through my company Song Of The Lorelei Productions Inc. I value the process of learning from cutting edge groundbreakers, with every intention of becoming one of them myself.
Artists ranging from SEAL and ME'SHELL NDEGEOCELLO to ERYKAH BADU and JOHN LEGEND have helped to redefine the "soul" genre, focusing on true artistry, creating a renaissance in R&B music. " Due to the diversity of my background, I relate to the those who take a different approach. I love band oriented music and the influences of the "old school" roots . I want to explore contemporary expressions of the most inspired music!"
