BACKGROUND/HISTORY
Konniption Fit was originally formed in the year 2004 by singer/guitarist Jason Caine & drummer Keith James. With the addition of a longtime friend & former bandmate, Eric Vancil on bass, the band was complete and started off as a power trio. Hitting the music scene hard from the get-go, Konniption Fit played several shows within a few months of forming, including Detroit's St. Andrew's Hall. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Keith James left the band shortly after it had begun, and thus the band went on hiatus for a short time, waiting for the opportune moment to re-emerge. In the Fall of 2006, that time had come. The power trio reformed & picked up right where they'd left off. During the Winter of 2006 & Spring of 2007, Konniption Fit recorded the four song EP, "Caricatures" at The Loft studios located in Saline, Michigan with producer/engineer, Andy Patalan at the helm. During this time, they continued to gig on a regular basis, spreading the music & the word that Konniption Fit had arrived. In the early Summer of 2007, backing vocalist Amber Cat was recruited to help thicken the Konniption Fit sound, improve & diversify the live performances, while also adding a new dimension to the band's overall image & energy.
Since then, the band has been more driven than ever. The band has been working tightly w/ Detroit radio Station WRIF 101.1, having received airplay & playing many WRIF sponsored events (see Gig Listings in Blog section). Konniption Fit has also been working w/ Windsors 88.7 Radio as well, playing many of their events, being featured in their ads and taking part in several of their band competitions. While working hard to promote their live show, Konniption Fit has had the opportunity to play some of Detroit's largest and best venues, including the Royal Oak Music Theater, St Andrews Hall, Bert's Warehouse Theater & the 1st Annual MAJ Entertainment Showcase at The Emerald Theater. Through hard work, they've garnered stage time w/ National recording acts such as Sponge, Taproot, WWE Diva Christy Hemme, Peppermint Creeps, Blacklist Union & Dogs Divine to name a few, as well as played w/ some of Detroits most in-demand & award-winning acts such as Crud, Broadzilla & Shram.
Currently, the band is back in the studio with Producer/Engineer Andy Patalan, recording their full length release, tentatively named, "Ballistic" with expectations of a Summer 2008 release. The 12 song CD will feature the "catchy ear candy meets a demolition wrecking ball" sound that fans have come to crave from Konniption Fit, with a few surprises in the mix.
Discography CARICATURES - The EP
The debut EP, "Caricatures" captures Konniption Fit's ability to write diverse material, yet showcase a sound that is cohesively unique & distinctly their own. Produced & recorded by Andy Patalan (Sponge, Solid Frog, Throttlebody, etc) at the infamous Loft studios in Saline, Michigan, "Caricatures" is brimming w/ hook-laden, ear-candy, pop bliss contrasted with crunchy, guitar-driven modern rock, creating a sound with mass-crossover appeal. This is a band that isn't afraid to sound like themselves, & while having many influences, taps into those influences to create something new & fresh.
