OMEB was really an accident… After two failed attempts with his band, Black Roses, Thrasher was left standing with shows thru an agent and no band to play them. So he retreated to his basement and began laying down tracks to cover the shows. 3 days after non-stop recording Thrasher emerged with his Gateway 450 Tower he so dubbed “Grooves”, 40 backing tracks and packed up for the show. (There wasn’t even a chance to make sure this would even work!)
Somehow this all worked! Thrasher realized that there was no more practicing 3 nights a week, no more ego’s to deal with and best of all….. He didn’t have to split the money four ways at the end of the night. After being called “The Black Roses Guy” for a month it was fate that happened next. After playing “Signs” by the Five Man Electric Band, some drunk yelled, “Hey look, it’s the One Man Electrical Band”. And it has stuck ever since!
Now here we are four and a half years later, OMEB has grown from a sideshow act to be one of the most heard and hardest working acts in Cincinnati! Although some things have changed, Grooves 1 met his demise to a faster and sleeker laptop, actually Grooves IV just became activated!! And OMEB’s library has grown to nearly 120 songs from the original 40. A full light show is now also part of the OMEB Tradition. Lights were originally run, until recently, by Black Roses guitarist, Mr. Walz. But since the birth of his two children we have passed the helm at the light controller onto Mr. Lancaster aka the MoHawk Menace. You can guarantee a MONSTER show when rocking out with the OMEB, hearing music that ranges from Pink Floyd to Pantera, drinking mass quantities of Jagermeister and never the same show twice!
Thrasher has been using Monster Guitar Picks for nearly two years! Preaching to the masses about how they made him a better player, increasing his accuracy and speed. OMEB has also earned endorsements from other great companies such as BC Rich Guitars, Michael Kelly Guitars and Kustom Amps. OMEB has even been lucky enough to play shows for Clear Channel Communications/WEBN and Jagermeister! And OMEB’s reach has extended as far away as Albany, New York thanks to Dave at Lane Productions (the guy who does all of his national bookings.)
