About Me

My name is Donald Peebles Jr. and I am a resident of Jamaica, New York. I am a writer who had poems and short stories published in WRITES OF PASSAGE USA, SBC, SHOUTOUT! and URBAN DIALOGUE. My short story "Social Studies" is one of the inclusions in the gay anthology FLESH TO FLESH, edited by author Lee Hayes and published by Strebor Books. My first novel, HIDDEN FIRES, will be published by Deja Vu Publications and slated for release on December 19, 2008. I will be working on my second novel, THE SLAVE GIRL, very shortly. I am featured in the documentary "Being Proud Black & LGBT in America", which was written, produced, and directed by my good friend, Monalisa McCombs.

If you all want to unearth my HIDDEN FIRES before the slated publication date of December 19, 2008, please feel free to pre-order the novel at Amazon (www.amazon.com). By the way, it won't hurt to drop by the Deja Vu Publications website (www.dejavupublications.com).

The Deja Vu Publications advertisement will be featured in the December 2008 issue of Don Diva Magazine. Sexy, Carmen, and I are on our way! Thank you, Tiffany Chiles, for the love you are showing us:
I was at Borders at Columbus Circle (NY) getting my autograph of HOLLYWOOD WIVES and MARRIED LOVERS by Jackie Collins herself, one of my most favorite authors of all time and inspirations for my own writing.
I am at the book signing for Latin Temptress (Ana Rodriguez), author of the hot novel THE ENCOUNTER, at Sexy's corner on 106th Street and 3rd Avenue. I was playing Superheroes and Villains with Damion, Sexy's son. I look like I am 6 or 7 months pregnant with no clue of who the father is. Better yet, Jenny Craig or NutriSystem ought to pay me budda and chedda to become their newest spokesperson like Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli, Queen Latifah, Marie Osmond, and Jillian Barberie. I got to get my Black gay badookadunk back into Ballys in the mornings and work this fat off before my book comes out on DECEMBER 19, 2008:
This is the first version of the flyers made eloquently by Dashawn Taylor, Essence bestselling author of FROM POVERTY TO POWER MOVES and KISSED BY THE DEVIL and one-time contestant of BET's THE ULTIMATE HUSTLER. These flyers refer to the 1st Annual Deja Vu Publications Christmas Party and the book release party for HIDDEN FIRES on Friday, December 19, 2008:

My paternal aunt, Rogina Wanda Peebles (1961-2008), will always be missed.
My short story "Social Studies" is one of the featured stories in this gay erotic anthology.
Below is my first radio Internet podcast interview - Beautiful Boyz of Prides World Podcast Show hosted by BBOP (Craig Gipson) on Saturday July 12, 2008 and aired on Tuesday July 15, 2008: It is on Tantalizing Tuesdays (Episode 101)

My Interests

Reading, writing, drawing, watching television, talking on the phone, working out at the gym, spending time with family and friends, gossiping, praying to my God, going to church, frequenting book and music stores, taking weekly trips to the library, history, listening to music, Afrocentricity, and African-American/Black History.

Although I am not Hispanic nor Latino, I do have nothing but love, peace, joy, and happiness for my Latino brothers and Latina sisters. I do know that African, African-American, African-Caribbean, and Latino peoples have more in common than apart. Please DO NOT listen to the mass media who want to DIVIDE AND CONQUER Blacks and Latinos because they see our unity and strength as a cultural, political, racial, and social threat.

I'd like to meet:

I want to meet writers, poets, authors, spoken word artists, screenwriters, television writers, soap opera scribes, journalists, tabloid writers, celebrity authors, playwrights, erotica writers/authors/poets, porn writers, editors, book reviewers, literary critics, librarians, archivists, historians, book club members, publishers, literary buffs, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, Same-Gender-Loving (SGL), queer, and questioning people, Afrocentric cultural nationalists, activists, stutterers, cartoonists, comic book illustrators and creators, spiritual people of faith, and liberation theologians.

Music:

R&B, soul, hip-hop/rap, disco, Oldies But Goodies, jazz, gospel, and house. I listen mostly to 98.7 KISS-FM, 107.5 WBLS FM, 105.3 WKTU FM, HOT 97.1 FM and POWER 105.1 FM.

Movies:

I love to watch films with good plots, characterizations, and acting, so I can say that I don't have any favorite movies since I watched so many. I am partial to African-American, LGBT/Same-Gender-Loving, and chick flick films, movies, and cinema.

Television:

All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Eyewitness News, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, America's Funniest Home Videos, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Dancing With the Stars, The Game, My9 News, America's Next Top Model, Private Practice, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, The Women's Murder Club, The Biggest Loser, Family Guy, The Tavis Smiley Show, Soul Train, and Like It Is.
