We have just recorded our debut album 'Where Dead Trees Grow' and have released an early mix of it, with only 100 copies being made, but there is soon to come a final mix with a new cover and CD design. This will soon be out for all to buy and experience on our myspace, on paypay and many more places. Keep checking for updates of the release. The songs are (in no particular order) . Intro . We were formed as a final line up in 2002. We began by covering bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Children of Bodom and Arch Enemy. Then gradualy, we all started to get a bit bored of playing covers and started writing our own material. We recorded our first demo of original material at Bournemouth College (under the name of Loki), however we were not happy with the mix and thaught we could have played better. As everyone developed on there instruments, so did their taste in metal. Everyone started enjoying and playing more technical and heavy styles, like Arch Enemy and Sikth. We all wanted our writing to have a sound more influenced by these kind of bands. This lead to the scrapping of previous songs and a development of a new style.
With new and exciting material being produced, we decided to change our name from Loki to Minion. We began to write faster, more complicated and melodic riffs, with carefully constructed melodies and solos. The lyrics also started receiving more attention. Then in late 2005, we began recording again. With other things on, it took us a while to record 5 tracks, and in the process of mixing and mastering we scrapped one of the tracks making it a 4 track EP.As the New Year drudged on, our 1st gig of the year was soon apon us, and with a new image, and a brand new EP 'Mind in Purgatory' we were ready to raise the world to the ground. After selling lots of CD's and playing many gigs we soon got writing again. The songs were becoming incresingly more technical and heavier leading to the scrapping of more songs. We decided to take more time with the new songs and have more imput from all band members. After exposing more songs at gigs and getting more positive feedback we decided to get back in the studio to record some songs for promotional use (Myspace etc). All band members were happy with the new songs but weren't completely happy with the mixing. We carried on writing new material playing gigs and increasing our fanbase until we had enough final tracks to record an album. This album was to be called "Where Dead Trees Grow" and was soon recorded and unleashed upon the scene. We are very articulate when it comes to our music, and we dont like to release anything but the very best. But that always ends up with us being very happy with the final product, wether it be a song or a recording. We are now in the midst of Playing about the UK and getting our name heard, but it wont be long until we are back to writing and recording, and hopefully, a new a,bum befor the end of the year.
