About Me

While Known primarily for his Bass work in Vicious Rumors, Dave has always considered himself more of a Guitarist than a Bass Player.

His New band features Dave handling both Rhythm and Lead Guitars, in addition to bass tracks. Teamed with Vocalist London Wilde, Starr brings his years of experience to forge a new breed of Powerful Crushing Metal....

"Generation Next" written by Dave Starr and London Wilde. Published by WildeStarr Media. Recorded by WildeStarr. Mixed and digitally mastered by Juan Urteaga at Triton Studios.

Dave Starr is a true Metal veteran with a career going back over 25 years, with numerous albums, MTV videos, DVD’s, and concert tours to his credit. Known mostly for his bass work with Vicious Rumors over that last 22 years, Dave is also a talented guitarist and song writer who is now recording the debut album with his new band WildeStarr, featuring Dave on guitars and bass.

Not many bass players can say they have made records with such guitar greats as Brad Gillis, Vinnie Moore, Geoff Thorpe, Mark McGhee, and David Chastain. Dave Starr can. He is also one of the few bass players in Metal to use the thundering 8 string.

“I started out like most guys, I did not know what the hell I was doing... and played in a bunch of shitty bands that I don’t care to remember. I taught myself how to play for the most part, listening to records and learning songs from all my favorite bands. My mom and dad thought I was crazy for wanting to do this, and maybe they were right!”

After playing guitar in bands for a few years, Dave switched over to bass in 1982. "Every band I was in, nobody wanted to play bass.... so I decided to do it myself." "I don’t regret the decision; it opened up a lot of doors for me, although I never really considered myself as a bass player."

"It was great to play with VR again on the last record WarBall. I am very proud of it and all the work I have done with VR. WildeStarr was something I had started to work on a few years earlier... and I really wanted to get back to that. Guitar playing is really where my heart is at, and to write my own songs as well. That is what WildeStarr is all about for me. In VR, it was always tough for me to write songs since we had 3 established writers in the band and my ideas did not always get the attention they deserved."

“What I am doing with WildeStarr is simple.... I am playing the music that I want to hear, the music I always wanted to write and record without answering to anyone else. I put the music we are doing up there with anything I have ever done before with VR. A lot of passion, blood, sweat and tears have gone into this music, and the results will change the world forever…Empires will fall! Make me a sandwich bitch!"
Stay tuned....

Vocalist London Wilde began singing publicly at the age of 14. “I began Performing Classical pieces such as Handel’s Messiah with the Church choir, as well as throwing down some Johnny Cash and Elvis, with my Dad who was an amateur Elvis Impersonator and MC. I often played guitar and sang with him at his gigs. Although I loved to sing, it wasn’t until I heard Ronnie James Dio on “Rainbow Rising”, that knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life!” London Performed with a handful of forgettable Metal bands in the mid to late 80’s. “Nothing lasted long! “I was essentially kicked out of every band I was in, after about 2-4 weeks. I don’t think they “got” me, and my unusual masculine vocal style. I just couldn’t find anyone who could share my vision musically. By the Early 90’s, when the Grunge revolution wiped Metal off the map, I decided to make a career change. I felt if I couldn’t sing the style of music I wanted, I wouldn’t sing at all.” London turned to doing session work; Recording, engineering, song writing and performing back up vocals and keyboards for local bands’ demos, working with former and current members of Orgy, Econoline Crush, Calamity Jane, and David Chastain. “I had pretty much given up hope that I would find someone that fit my musical vision and vocal style. That changed the moment I heard a rough demo of Dave Starr’s material. He had approached me to play keyboards on his new project, not realizing my background as a vocalist. I said “Sure, I can play keyboards…but actually I would like to be your singer! To Dave’s credit, after a brief pause, he said..Sure, OK!” Thus WildeStarr was born. "As a songwriting team, Dave and I fit like a GLOVE, and at age 45, I have at last found my dream band!”
