As a result of their Heavy Metal addiction from the glorious eighties drummer Jort Visser and bass player Wilco v/d Meij founded the HEAVY METAL band METHUSALEM in the end of 2000. Under influence of bands like Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Helloween they began their mission: ‘Bring you the bible of Steel!’The ironclad pigeon does it’s work and soon guitarist Dennis Hoekstra joins the band. From the first moment it’s crystal clear, ‘stunning playing Dennis’ is an indispensable element of Methusalem! After working with a couple of guitarists, the band finds in Dirk Jan Veenstra their second guitar player. This “Veenstar” not only accomplishes his task as guitarist more than well but also shows to be an excellent songwriter!In the end of 2003 they record their first promo. National and international the promo is welcomed well and gets very good critics such as, “Easily the best demo I have heard in the past 10 years” and “Here is a group of folks who honour the past and bring a heavy dose of NWOBHM styled metal to the forefront in 2004! Fans of traditional metal will eat this up!”When METHUSALEM finds their vocalist in Harold de Vries in 2004, the band is now complete. This ‘di ‘Anno’ is able to break windows and the band is unstoppable! Under guidance of producer Nico Outhuijse (Spanner / De Kast) the band records their EP “Senteced to Rock” in 2005.Sentenced to Rock gets very good critics and is often described as a perfect balance between Iron Maiden, Helloween and Judas Priest, with all their classic elements present. Tons of (twin) guitar solo’s and high pitched vocals. For that reason the band gets the opportunity to support B L A Z E (ex Iron Maiden) on their European tour in 2005. The band then forced to do the tour with vocalist David Marcelis (Judas Rising) due to personal problems of Harold de Vries. Nevertheless, the tour went out very successful and is a great experience for the band.Because personal reasons Wilco van der Meij decides to leave Methusalem in early 2007 and is replaced by Siem Tabak (Omission, Coldstone). Also the band reunite with vocalist Harold de Vries.The vibe is back, new songs has been written, more aggressive and powerful, new shows has been confirmed. The Frisian Metal Warriors are BACK!‘THE LOUDEST OF METAL! The guys from Methusalem sound like they just stepped out of the eighties to “Bring you the Bible of Steel”!.
