Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit, fair trade store that sells handcrafted items made by artisans in more than 30 countries. From home décor to gifts, pottery to jewelry, baskets to musical instruments, and hand loomed textiles to nativities, Ten Thousand Villages offers distinctive gifts and decorative folk art that will enhance the beauty of your home.
Ten Thousand Villages provides vital and fair income to people in developing countries by selling their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. Ten Thousand Villages works with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed.
Ten Thousand Villages of Tallahassee is a non-profit retail store, regulated by a volunteer board of directors and staffed by approximately 40 volunteers and a small paid staff.
The Tallahassee store is one in a network of over 150 Ten Thousand Villages stores in North America. We join other fair trade stores in their efforts to improve the livelihood of disadvantaged people in developing countries and to change unfair structures of international trade.
We only purchase from organizations that are fair trade certified and adhere to agreed-upon fair trade monitoring standards. Our chief wholesaler, Ten Thousand Villages U.S., is the largest and oldest fair trade wholesaler in the United States.
