I have been rescuing wolfdogs since 2002 when I discovered a wolfdog rescue out in the desert that had been abandoned....15 wolfdogs were left there in pens. It took many months to find homes for all of them because they were not socialized wolfdogs and had lived their whole lives in sanctuaries. Because it was about a 70 mile round trip from where I lived, I organized a group of people to help with the caretaking. It was so incredibly awesome when I would drive into the property to hear them all singing for me....it would bring tears to my eyes and make my heart ache for them. I was lucky in finding special people who understood what they needed and were willing to build safe containments and care for them for the rest of their lives...I still visit some of those wolfdogs and have become friends with many of the people who adopted them. I brought two of the wolfdogs home with me to my property. They were a mated pair who could not be separated (their pics are in my photo album). Joker & Gemi are my precious ones and I often wonder how I could possibly have lived my life without wolfdogs being a part of it. Wolves and wolfdogs are incredible creatures who are very misunderstood by most humans...I do my very best to try & find good homes for them and educate adopters on how to best care for their new family member...because that is what they are...wolfdogs are happiest being a member of a pack...even if the pack walks on two legs instead of four. Two books which I recommend highly to anyone thinking of adopting a wolfdog, are by Nicole Wilde and are entitled, "Living With Wolfdogs" and "Wolfdogs A-Z, Behavior, Training and More".
I recently joined myspace to help my friends Linda Jo, Karen, and Mike. We are members of the non-profit group, Wolfdog Rescue Resources, with members nationwide who are dedicated to saving wolfdogs who have been given up to adoption as well as rescuing ones who have been abused or have been abandoned in shelters. Please visit our website to learn more about us and to view some of the rescued wolfdogs who are needing their forever loving homes. http://www.wrr-inc.org/ Our focus is on finding forever loving homes for displaced wolfdogs and refuge for displaced wolves. MySpace is a tool we hope to use to Make new friends who love wolves and wolfdogs or who just want to learn more about them...AND to save more wolf and wolfdog lives.
Right now, there are many wolfdogs in rescue who are in need of their forever homes...I will be putting photo's up on my photo album of ones I am trying to help. We do require adoption applications, references and home checks prior to the adoption of rescued wolfdogs. I will also be putting a link for the adoption application if anyone is wanting to adopt a rescued wolfdog. More coming soon on wolfdogs waiting for special people to give them their forever homes...in the meantime, if you are interested in adopting a rescued wolfdog, please contact me and I will send photo's of those who are available....Many Blessings & Happy Howls and Hugs from Oregon!!
