The new CD "ANCIENT DELIRIUM" with vocalist CHARLES EDWARD of SERAPHIM SHOCK (seraphimshock.com AND myspace.com/HalloweenSexNVegas) was released SEPTEMBER 23, 2009 on Trine Records.
A dark rendition of the LED ZEPPELIN song "FRIENDS" is featured.
Composed and arranged by CAROL TATUM and produced once again by FLORIAN AMMON (RAMMSTEIN, VAN HALEN, U2/2009, MARIAH CAREY, QUINCY JONES, ELTON JOHN, ROCCO DELUCA, ETC.), "ANCIENT DELIRIUM" is an intoxicating blend of ROCK, GOTH AND WORLD/TRIBAL FUSION music featuring the darkly romantic vocals of CHARLES EDWARD. The CD has deep groove rhythms, body-conscious tempos, infectious percussion patterns and exotic ornamentations such as sitar, tampura, doumbek, riqq, zils (finger cymbals), etc., all within a foundation of rock guitar/bass/drums.
CAROL TATUM is playing ELECTRIC AND ACOUSTIC GUITAR plus HAMMERED DULCIMER and KEYBOARDS as well as writing music and lyrics.
Vocalist CHARLES EDWARD contributes his silky smooth yet powerful, PETER-MURPHY-meets-GEOFF-TATE-meets-PETER-STEELE/TYPE O NEGATIVE vocals to all tracks.
Several guest musicians are featured:
Carol's cousin, GARY MYRICK, is playing guitar and slide guitar on the QUEENSRYCHE-type power ballad "I FALL."
JERAMIAH SOTO from the world fusion band SOLACE is playing percussion on four songs on the CD.
RUN DMC & I5 vocalist TAL B contributes her strong yet feminine vocals to propel the tribal African-inspired song "AHAVA."
Crystal clear female soprano CHRISTINA LINHARDT plays the “angel” on the powerful gothic anthem “Nag (The Serpent King”).
ANGELS OF VENICE musician CATHY BIAGINI plays world-class cello on four of “Ancient Delirium’s” songs and SUSAN CRAIG WINSBERG plays passion-filled flute on “Ahava”.
Top session player for movie soundtracks, oboist TOM BOYD, perfectly compliments the variety of classical instruments on the BERNARD-HERRMANN-inspired “Courtesan Suite."
THE SECTION violinist ERIC GORFAIN (PAGE/PLANT “Unledded” tour) returns to play beautiful, rich violin on ZEPPELIN’s “Friends” and the tribal goth song “Primitive Kiss.”
FLORIAN AMMON, Carol’s engineer, is also a drummer and performs on the majestic ballad “I Fall."
The charming and sweet angel SANGEETHA RAO adds traditional East Indian vocals to “Primitive Kiss.”
