So here it goes:
Countertenors can be divided in 3 groups:
1: Altos
Example: Andreas Scholl, Michael Chance, James Bowman...etc.
2: Mezzos
Example: Bejun Metha, David Daniels, Brian Asawa...etc...
3: Sopranists
Example: Philippe Jaroussky, Jorg Washinski, Michael Maniaci...etc.
Ok... Now where do I come finally?
ok...I feel more confortable singing in Jaroussky's range, that is low sopranist range or low castrato soprano range.( or mezzo baroque pants role range )
But my voice is not like the sopranists like....that sound closer to a female soprano, my voice is closer to a female mezzo, or even alto, but sounding soprano on the high notes...
And in fact, all theese roles, that jaroussky does, theese low soprano castrato roles, or in fact the very mezzo pants roles, are done, well, by female mezzos also...so i think my voice is just as right as jaroussky's for that range, just closer to the female version of it. A male mezzo( like Metha or Daniels) , in jaroussky's range, that is called to be a sopranist because he sounds like a soprano or in fact does a lot of low soprano castrato roles, but it is also done by female mezzos, but in my case i would be a male mezzo in low sopranist range like jaroussky( Maniaci and Washinski are incredibly higher, like a female regular soprano, high soprano castrati roles , and metha and daniels, are a bit lower than low soprano castrato roles...that means, high alto, or low mezzo). And my voice is very large, i can go from sound like ewa podles, or stutzman to anne sofie von otter, to sound like a soprano child.
And i can sing alto too, and jaroussky cant :P. well i cant very good but i am learning.
But I'm not a natural castrato or nothing like that...
I tried my voice in theese days, and i can sing tenor (from c3) and hit the famous c5 in " chest ".
But I have really problems with my speaking voice, since I am trainning to be
male mezzo/alto and sopranist......I have to get my voice used to higher pitch...
because all gets higher and I begin to loose my chest voice, its like a castration or reeducation of the voice hahah...really...
i should talk the closest to c4 i can...but it's really odd.
well I have extended my speaking voice, sometimes i hit d4 in speaking, it feels nice, but have really get used to it......it will take a looooooooong time to change my speaking voice.....because it changes my whole identity....
since i am used to talk starting in d3 or c3 .... and not f3 or g3....
but it will really help get stronger my countertenor voice.
But i am really not interested in singing in tenor voice, nor in the tenor repertoire.
not even the alto repertoire interests me! hahah.
ok......whatever...
Have a nice day..
OH yes, next year i have to enter the conservatory MANUEL DE FALLA...
i guess i wil enter, if i dont get scared....
or if my voice does not suck like i think it sucks.
