Suzanne Hendrix - contralto
About Me
Suzanne Hendrix, contralto, is DMA student at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory where she studies with Dr. Anne DeLaunay. She is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned both a BME and a MM in voice while studying with Dr. Jean McDonald. Ms. Hendrix’s opera roles include the role of Ma in Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica and Florence Pike in Albert Herring. She regularly sings in the Kansas City Lyric Opera chorus and was an apprentice artist with the Des Moines Metro Opera in 2008. In January 2009, she was a Kansas City district winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and this summer she will participate in the San Francisco Opera Center Merola young artist program. She has also appeared as a soloist in Durufé’s Requiem, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Handel’s Messiah, and several Mozart works. Ms. Hendrix has taught voice at the University of Northern Iowa and musicology Wartburg College.
