George Hughen of Black Oak Arkansas
was raised up deep in the swamps of Louisiana on alligator gumbo, pickled quail eggs, & spendin’ my days learnin’ the fine art of playin’ the bass guitar on gramma’s old washtub. With only my unwelcome leper carryin’ pet armadillo, & a few stray deaf marmots for a crowd I would literally thump the moss out of the trees. Soon I moved on up to a real four string bass & an amplifier grampa made from all the transistor radio speakers left behind from terrorized northerners thinkin’ they could stop over & pitch camp down on the bayou & have gator for supper. My brother & I always had fun pole ‘n’ the ole pirogue round the Cyprus trees, sneakin’ up on em, playin’ the banjo & scarrin’ the deliverance out of em so I could get more speakers. I continued to just build that amplifier bigger & louder till ever body said I was runnin’ off all the vermin so they shipped me off to Texas to join up with some country band with this midget lead singer & some ole drunk chick playin’ the spoons so I wouldn’t lose my hearing before I turned 15. Well some how I ditched out of the ole Cowtown & moved up to Arkansas to join the loudest rock band in the world, Black Oak Arkansas & continued on my mission to losin’ my hearin’. Any way I’ve pretty much got it made, a beautiful wife of forever, 3 kids, 6 grand kids, a $250 Peekapoo & some kind of little rat lookin’ dog that knows who’s holden. It’s just a hop, skip, & a swingin’ bridge from where I grew up, but I guess you can say, home is where your bass guitar is!
