Painting(not very good at it), poetry(so-so), puzzles(pretty good), and partying(excellent). I'm not even out of the Ps. There's at least 1 more P. It's an easy guess. I'll keep this short. Long walks with my grandson. He helps me keep things in perspective.

..John Lennon - The 1963 version
and the 1973 version
just to contrast the spiritual growth/regression, whichever.Gandhi - The last 10 years so I could, perhaps, grasp the depth of his passion...
Muhammad - Just to see if the way "extremists/islamists' are interpreting him is correct.
Myself - So I could maybe, just maybe, understand why I do what I do.
Start in the 20s with Billie Holliday and all that jazz. You think today's music is sexual(it is) you ought to hear "Butcher Man". "Hey butcher man, give me a piece of that big ole meat." Yeah on the radio in the Roaring 20s.
The 40s with Frank, Bing, and my Favorite Teresa Brewer and Jimmy Rodgers.
I started hearing music in the 50s. The 50s brought me Chuck, Jerry Lee, Elvis(of course), Hank, Patsy Cline, and Connie Francis. Oh, but it was the 60s when I started listening to the music and not just hearing it. The Beatles, Byrds, Doors, and Dylan.(Crosby, Stills, & Nash), Janis, and Steppenwolf. In 69 I was 13 and these were the ones who helped me to tune in and turn on. Today I listen to just about all musical forms. I even hear the genius in rap. I just don't hear it for too long at a time. lol
Ronin with DeNiro,
any John Wayne movie (my dad looked like him)
Little Big Man with Dustin Hoffman, Fallen, Pillowtalk with Doris Day, Bob and Bing's Road movies
Dirty Harry, and virtually any comedy.
The Dicovery channels, PBS, Daily Show with JS, Colbert Report, A&E, Mind of Mencia, Dave Chapelle, and The Red Skelton Show(only found on dvd now).
I read "Oedipus" in the summer. I guess my favorite would have to be "Call of the Wild" by Jack London. I get a dozen mags every month that I read voraciously but I haven't read a book in ages. I've read some of the philosophers like Plato, Socrates, Confucius, Sophocles, Hegel, and Marx but these aren't really books per se.
There would have to be a paradigm shift in the way most people judge heroes in order for them to see my heroes as such. My hero is the drug addict(been there, done that) living in a culvert trying to figure out how to get his life back together. Most drug addicts, if they could articulate it, would tell you that they aren't trying to escape from life, they're trying to deal with it and drugs help. Their life is a nightmare and they're trying to defeat their inner demons. Aren't we all? Most would like to quit drugs they just haven't figured out that to quit you just have to quit. It's easy once you find the courage to face your demons. Sometimes, though, that courage can be hard to locate. If you have a loved one who is an addict(I do) that has hinted, expressed, or said they would like to quit then do whatever you feel you have to do to help them quit and I do mean whatever. Just don't give up on them.
