About Me

My name is D.Scott. I play guitar for The Flash Mob and Ultrachronic . Check out my bands' websites at www.theflashmob.net and www.ultrachronic.com .

I also write a monthly (sometimes bi-monthly) column for Colorado Music Buzz , a free monthly publication that has a distribution of up to 40,000 all across Colorado. Check it out - it's run by some good people, and it's CHOCK-FULL of great information regarding Colorado's burgeoning music scene.

2006 was a pretty weird year for me. I faced a tough situation and with the help of my family, my friends, and (most of all) my lovely Wifey, we overcame it. Details are in my blog if you want to read about it, but if you want the short version, a non-malignant tumor the size of a cantaloupe was taken out of my chest. As a result I lost a lung, half my voice (surgically-induced vocal cord paralysys), a rib, and thankfully, the tumor - but all I lost was a relatively small price to pay for a new lease on life. I'm very thankful for that.

My influences as a guitarist and as a songwriter include everything in the 'Music' section to the left. I play through either a 1998 Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 or a 2005 20th Anniversary Paul Reed Smith Custom 22, through a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo head and straight Rectifier 4×12 cabinet, and through a variety of pedal effects.

I love my Paul Reed Smith guitars - sweet, sweet sound. The orange PRS is a little hotter-sounding than the silver PRS, but the silver PRS has a silkier tonal character than the orange PRS. I love them both. The amp is a monster - whether it's being played clean, overdriven, or is set to screamin' lead. Mesa/Boogie makes a damn fine amplifier - it's reliable, it's road-worthy, and it's got tone for days. My current effects chain is as follows: Guitar » Sennheiser wireless system » Pedal Pad MPS-XL patchbay (guitar input) » Boss TU-2 Tuner » Ernie Ball VP Junior volume pedal » Barber Tone Press compressor » Boss Octave » Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah » Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble » Real McCoy Custom Wah » Dunlop RotoVibe » Pedal Pad MPS-XL patchbay (from FX pre-loop input) » Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Input » Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier FX Loop send » Pedal Pad MPS-XL patchbay FX Loop in » Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb » Line 6 Delay Modeler » Pedal Pad MPS-XL patchbay FX Loop out » Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier FX Loop return.

I live in Suburbia with my lovely Wifey and our dog, Ozzy the Black Labbath. Life is good - very good.

Drop me a line and say 'Hi'.
