Band Members: M.F.KAAOS at The Gothic Theatre with Apex Vibe and UmConscious ALL AGES! Saturday, August 15th....
Influences: Beasties are my all time favorite music group who also happens to have my all time favorite DeeJay in the world, Mix Master Mike. I've loved music as long as I can remember and have recently, in the past 3 years, been able to make music and entertain crowds on the one's and two's. I've been influenced by many, too many to sit here and make a list, but to name 3 who've really influenced me, the one and only, MIX MASTER MIKE, DJ PREMIER (Premo), and my man DJ LETHAL. I'm not a trick/battle/routine/competition DeeJay, but love those cats alot, they're amazing and I love what they do. I watch 'em all the time and they influence me to continue to explore what can be created on the ones and two's aside from spinning iLL tunes. However, I can't deal with scratch sessions with a bunch of DeeJay's, mostly because all everyone ever wants to do is crab scratch the infamous FRESH-SWOOSH over break beats all session long. That's just plain boring and doesn't have any influence on me at all and it really doesn't contribute to music in my opinion. As far as spinning music for the headz, I really like to keep the music uptempo, hard hitting, funky, soulful, groovy and experimental at all times and that's one of the biggest reasons I choose to play a lot of the pre-mellenium Hip Hop. You will never catch me slowing the set down on you unless it's some head noddin' groovyness. Like me, I love my audience to feel the music and I prefer not to play down tempo hip hop trax. My preference and love for what I spin is influenced straight from the Old School Hip Hop scene, Old School Underground Hip Hop scene and only some of today's Underground Hip Hop scene. NOTHING TOP 40, I steer clear of all today's Top 40 radio rap/r&b. You will never catch me playing the commercial radio, club rap/r&b jams in my sets. It's garbage to me and I don't play for the Top 40 crowds. Todays Top 40 has NO SOUL in it. I can't feel today's rap and r&b at all. Anyways, leave that for the glam club digital jox. Some of the musical influence you'll hear in my DeeJay set lists consist of: Aesop Rock, Cut Chemist, Hyminal, Blackalicious, A Tribe Called Quest, Wax Taylor, Atmosphere/Slug (thanks Rach), DeLa Soul, Digable Planets, Jurrasic 5, Mobb Deep (The Infamous album) Biz Markie, Lyrics Born, Too Short, Talib (when he did Reflection Eternal and Blackstar, he really fell off though, sad!), Eric B and Rakim, EPMD, Mos Def (although he hates whitey, he use to be iLL on the Black Star record. His latest record from 2009 is horrible. He needs to stick with the Hollywood scene.), Funkdoobiest, Gangstarr, Nice -n- Smooth, Old School WU (when they were dope, another sad fall off), Grand Puba, Old School Del, Lords of the Underground, Black Sheep, Das EFX, Old School Redman, Special Ed, Public Enemy, Old School Snoop, Fugees, some Fushnix, Lin Q, Old School MC Lyte, Cypris Hill, Old School Busta Rhymes, The Roots, "a-yah-yahee"-Some of that mid 90's West Coast without the 2Pac garbage, Common, Chubb Rock, Newcleus, Young MC, , The Pharcyde, Biggie, The Coup, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Ugly Duckling, Leaders of the New School, Naughty, UMC's, Stereo MC's, Nas (when he did Illmatic in 93-94, I think this was the hardest fall off I've delt with, just aweful how bad he is these days and pretty much everything he did after Illmatic was horrible with the exception of a few trax on It Was Written), GZA (the illest member of WU who never lets me down and my favorite MC, pick up Liquid Swords and Beneath the Surface), House of Pain, Old School Ice Cube, some experimental mashed up shit and so on..... You know, shit like that. The new and mostly classic Hip Hop. With my new project. M.F. KAAOS, I was influenced by the DJ AM/Travis Barker project. Come party with me and RAWK!***** 1993 was the best year ever for Hip Hop. It's very sad to me to see where Hip Hop is today. Even the new school underground has really taken a turn for the worst. So I'll just keep droppin' the ill shit for you when Hip Hop was trully at it's best.******Peace to all and any flavor DeeJay out there. We each have our own flavor, style, preference and influence on how we chose to RAWK shit and I trully respect you all very much!Peace to my 303 band headz that I've performed and shared the stage with: Rhythm Vision, The Flash Mob, Flobots, UmConscious, Word up to P-Nuk, Genial, Boondok Saints, Ultrachronic, Five Style Fist, Banana Conjak, Lion Vibes, Ras Steady, Synthetic Elements, 3AM, Optimal Frequency, Synaptic Collapse, ION, Mercury Project, Future Jazz Project, Nonhero, Audible Abilities, YoFlaco, The Haggardies, Hypnotic Fly, Judge Roughneck, Love 45, Sunset Curse, 3OH!3, Kelli Said, Apex Vibe, Freedom Movement, Rubber Planet, Lion Souljas, MTHDS.....REVIEW:
"If you haven't heard DJ KAAOS spin, then you haven't heard the real side and roots of hip hop. From someone who appreciates the roots of hip hop, this guy can spin the music that you thought you forgot about, but you sure remember how to groove to. DJ KAAOS not only rocked the main stage at 36 Hours of Keystone, he had a steady following for the two additional sets he spun at...with the crowd waiting and braving the cold just to hear his real and unedited hip hop. Don't expect the top 40...turn on the radio if you're looking to hear that...this is the reals...the stuff that started it all. SoBe Tim...SoBe Brand Manager - Colorado" (now with MONSTER)
