HISTORY My apprenticeship in music was pop and rock in the UK scene where I swirled and screamed like a dervish with the hot band Baby Bartok. you can see a bit about them here : Bartok RIP

It blew up after I discovered the 'dance' scene in Edinburgh and the rest of the band didn't.I then learned how to be a techno music psycho just as drum and bass hit the UK. The only records that survive of that period are some jams with the wonderful funk/hiphop turntablist Colin Smith from Edinburgh along with a few drum and bass tracks from the scene....the most notable being Too Many Buttons To Push Too Many Tape Recorders to Watch - a drum and bass cover of a rare dEUS track. Later I put three tracks on a record as part of the collective label called Wonderlust. One co-written by 'The Navigator' of Botany5 fame. The Radio Wonderlust compilation got great reviews ..."some jaw-droppingly great acts - if only Radio 1 sounded this fresh, the music world would be a richer place." John Earls , Channel Four, UK 2001. However Wonderlust was becoming too complicated so Drongo bailed and became Drongomala.

In 2003 the Scale Album was begun in earnest. Demos in Edinburgh and London were taken to Kerala in South India where sessions with local musicians took place and then a further turn to Naxos Island, Greece where the final overdubs and tweaks were done.

While recording Scale I recorded a live record called 100 Fields A selection of my favourite old time gospel songs using a South Indian folk band.

This record features Manchesters own bass hero Jon Thorne aswell as some of the top carnatic players in Kerala.
Just to keep busy I co-wrote and produced the street-tuff Elemental while mixing Scale in Hyde Street Studios, San Francisco. Elemental has a pantheon of Bay Area rappers that guest for verbals.

Arriving back in Manc I re-oriented and decided to take part in the Futuresonic festival with a concept I had called ElectroRaga - something that I had done the ground work for in Greece. ElectroRaga was derived from North Indian Ragas and I improvised with guest musicians...top Indian Classical and Western mentalists alike. I played a laptop running Ableton live with three controllers and conducted/led the musicians through the improvisations.
The first live outing for ElectroRaga was with HLI - the rap duo from Birmingham along with clarinet while the second outing was a whole day affair with 4 outdoors concerts from dusk til dawn. The locations were chosen to suit the mood of the raga ranging from Waterparks at dawn to the Red Light Area at midnight. We used the guerilla approach of not asking for permission indvance and just turned up with the gear and a generator. The whole day was amazing and received great reviews from the Guardian and BBC. Check the dedicated site : ElectroRaga on MySpace
After that I got a band together called the Good Hurt late in 2006 comprising of an ex bboy on bass called Sinik and a hot drummer called Tree. We recorded an EP called 'Prescription No 1' and now we are gigging all over the North West of England.Check the blogs regularly - that's where the latest info goes. I'm available for production duties for writers, performers and bands....or vain millionaires...and I'm always on the lookout to collaborate with good people.

In case it's not evident - I'm done with genres unless I'm putting a boot in them;)That's where it's up to.
Nothing shows that your feeling it more than buying the records of course
Peace but aggression where needed
