I began a love for music at the tender age of just 4 years old when I learnt to play piano and keyboard. I took piano lessons at Yamaha Music School until the age of 16 and was classically trained as a pianist. I self-tought myself to play the keyboard and sing. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My singing interest came about before the age of 18, but I bought my first stage equipment at 18 and I set about the clubs and pubs as "Louise Carr". I really wanted to gain more experience singing in a public place and becoming a club singer was for me, the next step. I was then offered the chance to appear on channel 5's "Night Fever" by my then agent, which I did for pure publicity and to get me further work. I soon became known locally, in West Yorkshire. At 19 I moved to South Yorkshire and my music and fans followed me. I soon realised that my singing ability was having a real effect on people. At 24 I decided to take my talent as a singer to a different level, and really try to do something about it. I am now known to thousands of people worldwide as "Cheryl Aster" and had 10,000 hits to my myspace within 5 months of registering my page.I advertised as an available singer on a website, only one week later, a songwriter contacted me with an interest in my vocal abilities. Having been given a long list of potential hits I chose two. From there the songs were altered by myself and Sound Engineer Alan Van Kleef to suit the current pop market. It didn't take me very long at all to learn the original tracks and make them my own, putting my stamp on them. Then, there I was on the 12th October 07 sat in a recording studio in London!!! Watching the Engineer put the tracks together after I had put all the effort into the vocals - It was a fantastic experience! I was so impressed at how professional it all was and how fast it all happened!!! Later I returned to the studio in London, to finalise the two tracks. They were Mastered, I Beg You and Faith Lives Forever was completed. After the success of Recording my first two tracks, It was decided and agreed that I suited a soft rock/pop style of singing, as I have been a singer since a young age, i've picked up various influences, enabling me to adapt to different styles and it wasn't until I'd recorded my first ever tracks in a professional recording studio, that everyone (including myself) involved suggested we go for recording in a soft rock/pop style for what was to become my first Album.... I wasn't expecting to even come away with even one single recorded, let alone be given chance to record a full album. So I was utterly surprised when i was invited back to London, to Motion Studio.I began learning 10 songs and collaborating again with my Lyricist and Songwriters, building a whole repotoir of original music, ready to record. I was also networking hard, building up contacts and learning more and more of how the music industry works, but having studied a BTec 1st and National Diploma In Popular Music and Performing Arts, I knew instantly what was required of me in studio. It seemed to come natural to me, harmonising in the right places, adlib and my own ideas flowed perfectly. I had a say in how everything was done and was never left out or put to one side. I returned to Motion Studio in London, to start recording my album on Jan 25th 08, to lay down the vocals of "I'm Tearing Apart" and "He's Where My Heart Belongs". Guitarist Jim Barnes was brought into studio as my Session Guitarist for my Album. I had chance to work with a guitarist that has in previous years, recorded for "GEORGE MICHAEL" and as you can hear, makes the tracks sound amazing!!! It was a fantastic experience to work with such a talented guy and Jim put so much into my music, I cannot thank him enough for all his experience as a musician. It most definately gave me and my album the lift it needed in the recordings. We went onto recording:"You're The Reason I'm Living","Get Me Closer To Your Heart","No One Can","Differences","Faith Lives Forever" in a Soft Rock style,"You Got Me Stranded""When To Know A Friend"and my very popular track "I'll Stand By You"The Album was then in the hands of the studio producer, Alan Van Kleef and was being mixed, mastered and finished off with other Instruments, such as percussion, and Live session musicians. Including Bass Guitars laid down by Bass player Ryan Michael. My track "I Beg You" is currently getting radio airplay on Internet Radio Station www.ukundiscovered.co.uk You can hear me on www.ukundiscovered.co.uk daily. "I Beg You" was the first track I recorded at Motion Studio and remains a very meaningful song to me, It is a pop/dance song, but unfortunately will not be on my final first Album. I plan to release it at a later date. Unless it becomes in my interest to release it sooner. Music is in everyone's lives and at some point of everyone's day they listen to music. I tried to live a normal "working" life and music is in my blood, its like an addiction, once you've caught the bug, you're in it for life, and thats what happened to me. I can't remember not having an interest in music. It became a part of my life very young.Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?A: The music i create can be of several genre's Country, Pop, Soft Rock, Alternative. I'm vocally very adaptable. I love writing ballads, love songs, and writing music people relate to, with strong lyrics.Q: Who are your biggest musical influences?A: My influences have been from a very young age growing up with bands, solo singers and pop singers on the tv. I've always wanted to be in their shoes doing the things they're doing. Particularly singing at a recording studio, getting chance to produce my own ALBUM!, singing live to my many fans!! And also having a live band behind me. My Influences range from many pop/rock/dance artists, but I think I have my own style, and originality to the tone of my voice. My Influences are mainly from Eva Cassidy, Madonna, Anastacia, Celine Dion, Karen Carpenter, Cher, Cyndi Lauper, KT Tunstall, Duffy, Roxette, Rascall Flatts, Robbie Williams. The list is endless, but all of whom i've listened to over the past 25 years of my life and have in some way influenced me as a singer/songwriter and performer. I hope one day someone will say I influenced them as a singer/songwriter and performer!Q: What makes your music unique?A: The tone of my voice and how I perform my songs is unique to me. I have been told I have an infectious, lovable , warm tone to my voice like strawberries on cream! How I came to recording them was unique to me, how I've taken each opportunity as its come along and worked hard for the next opportunity.Q: Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you're most proud of?A: Yes, recording my album has been tremendously eye opening for me, I was totally facinated by the whole process and i'll never forget the experience. Such an enjoyable moment, finally hearing the finished masterpiece. I've enjoyed it so much.Q: What's next for you?A: I would love to see my music published, Licensed to a record label and finally see it on the shelves and on I-tunes, have a professional website (my current website is very basic). I want to be a professional singer and be recognised by millions worldwide for my talent. I would love to see one of my songs as a charity song for the less fortunate. "Differences". I'd like to release "I'll Stand By You" and "No One Can" into the American and British Market. I'm looking forward to building my fanbase and one day gigging at Wembley Stadium will be the ultimate of my ambitions. Amongst many others. I'd also like to collaborate with other songwriters and publishers.
