Kush4711 was born in Jamaica and was christened Sean Folkes. kush at a very early age was exposed to music as his grandfather and two brothers formed the Folkes Brothers and later recorded a hug hit called "Oh Carolina". After high school, Kush formed the band called "Children Of Kush". He later migrated to United States where he is currently residing.Kush4711 is presently recording his soon to be release debut album. Watchout for it! My vision is that one day, Africa will become a united states and it's people will enjoy their land in peace and harmony. The possibility is endless and so i will reach out to all nations to join me in this task for the common good of all mankind. This, i truly believe was the dream of many of our former leaders - Marcus Garvey, Marley, Mandela, Martin, Ariet Tubman, Nanny of the maroons and I could continue to name them. This however, by the will of his majesty will be attained through the universal language of music, poetry, psalm, sing aloud all ye land and shout unto Jah with a voice of triumph. Yeah, seems like a while since kush placed an update, however he has been very busy in the studio mixing and mastering what will definately be a master piece of true hard core reggae that has been off the shelf since most of his mentors left for the holy mount zion. “Shine Your Light†is the debut release from Jamaica-born reggae artist Kush4711. The songs on this album are truly inspirational. Kush4711’s lyrics range from socially aware songs about the unification of Africa and the common good of mankind to religious songs about giving it all to Jah, including Jewish religious imagery as well. The arrangements are original, using a reggae foundation and combining it with urban grooves and occasional gospel vocals, making the songs both danceable and relaxing, depending entirely upon your mood. Kush4711’s delivers with a great reggae vocal, and the backing vocalists add a nice element to the sound. “Shine Your Light†is well-recorded, and the album sounds clean. The title track, “Shine Your Light†is an upbeat track with a nice reggae rhythm, a catchy chorus, and great backing vocals. “13 Tribe†is a catchy track with great vocal layering and religious imagery. The album closes with instrumental versions of “Killing,†“Miracle,†and “New Jerusalem,†highlighting the arrangements and their extreme danceability. Overall, “Shine Your Light†is an impressive and inspired debut from a budding talent, and any fan of urban reggae should pick this one up.
