Huzzah!
Kittie is widely known for her most unusual life and notable achievements - as an elite burlesque artiste, actress, serial cover model, pinup, writer and a paranormal investigator with a bona fide academic background in both psychology and parapsychology.
Yep! You read it right!
The drive behind Kittie lies in her passion for the avant-garde side of life, taking creative endeavours and cognitive controversies as the key to personal and social evolution. Burlesque provides the creative outlet for these ideas.
“Living Art” - The Erotic Print Society
Kittie is arguably the UK's longest performing burlesque artiste and undoubtedly one of the world's most successful. Kittie takes her majority influences from 19th Century Music Hall and traditional British burlesque with a bit of Bettie Page style sass thrown in - which makes her a rare specimen in performance art and a comedienne with prowess. As founder of the Ministry of Burlesque (See Top Friends), Kittie helps to nurture emerging performers as they tread the boards for the first time.
“For burlesque you need the Ministry of Burlesque, and its fearless leader the fabulous Kittie Klaw.” - Time Out, London
“The Movers and Shakers of the Burlesque world.” - The BBC
Kittie is the only performer to have actively nurtured the growing community in tandem with her own career and is constantly campaigning for genuine burlesque resurgence in entertainment. Among her ongoing campaigns are the restoration of the UKs oldest surviving Music Hall Theatre and expansion of the true burlesque genre in both professional and amateur circles.
“A true miracle of mother nature...the sexy pinup doesn’t cease to amaze” - Telegraaf (Holland)
It comes as no surprise that as well as being recognised as one of the few, true stars of the new burlesque renaissance, Kittie is also globally acknowledged as one of the vital forces behind the new wave of burlesque theatre and it's surrounding community.
“The Queen of the British Burlesque Scene” - What’s On in London
Kittie is also one half of a Burlesque Duo - "Toff & Tales" - where 19th Century Music Hall meets 21st Century attitude. Toff & Tales also features the inimitable Jim Devereaux (See Top Friends).
Kittie is regularly consulted by the media and press to comment on the cutting edge ends of both Art and Science and makes many appearances on main stream TV and radio as herself.
In addition to Kittie's full time work as an internationally travelling performer and producer, she also finds time to appear on film as an actress in between press calls, media work and photoshoots!
Currently, Kittie is working with the fabulous Nick Walker (see Top friends for 'director') on a series of short films and has already been the successful leading lady in one film so far ('Les Fabulous Troubadours')and is working on the forthcoming 'Six Penny Opera'.
It is all makes for a hectic and complicated life and perhaps this explains why she often regresses to her alter ego who is a 19th century cockney chimney sweep (known as Chip), for some quiet time.
