About Me

ABOUT ME:I'm a journalist, author, comedian, comedy writer, actor-type. I've written reviews, editorials, comedy pieces, features, and have interviewed hundreds of comedians, musicians and actors for publications and websites including Radar , Esquire , Variety, Maxim, Salon, Nerve , the Black Table , The New York Post and many, many others. The list of people I've interviewed is vast and wide, including Philip Seymour Hoffman, David Mamet, George Carlin (click the "Esquire" link above for that one), Mitch Hedberg, J.J. Abrams, Ellen Degeneres, Ray Romano, Sarah Silverman, and Dane Cook; Aimee Mann, Modest Mouse, Rick James, Al Green, and James Brown; two members each of Yes, Phish, Guns and Roses and Death Cab for Cutie, and three members each of KISS and the Grateful Dead. The list goes on - if you want to know if I've written about anyone specific, feel free to ask. I also write non-entertainment-related feature stories. I've interviewed the likes of Governor Mario Cuomo, former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, and the former Commander of the Multi-National Forces in Iraq, General George W. Casey - and, I won an award for Excellence in Profile Writing from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for this profile of a theatrical publicist/prison activist named David Rothenberg. I've written several books, and I’m also featured as one of the profiled “Successful Freelancers” in the 2007 Writer’s Market.I've performed stand-up comedy all around NYC, and appeared on the first-ever episode of Chappelle's Show. (Remember the Pop Copy Sketch, where the angry dude screams at Guillermo Diaz, "I wanna see your manager!" and Guillermo screams back, "I AM the manager, bitch!" That bitch was me.) I was also hired to help write jokes for host Whoopi Goldberg at the sold-out Radio City Music Hall event, “An Evening with Harry, Carrie, and Garp,” which featured readings by John Irving, Stephen King, and J.K. Rowling. I played hard rock guitar in bands in a former life (my lead playing has been compared to Jimmy Page's by several highly intoxicated college girls), and I've recently developed an affinity for cheesy 70's exploitation flicks. Up next: Fritz The Cat!
