About me: I’m nearly an old artist living in Switzerland, not so old but mature. I started a long time ago in Italy, my country of origin, with painting and and several other interests, like theatre, poetry, movies, photography and many other things in the art spheres. I was and still am very hungry for all kinds of artistic works...and music. Music was, maybe, my best friend and I took care of my education slowly slowly, because our time is really saturated with many styles and directions how to make sounds and the sounds have changed and are changing very fast. In my case the music and its evolution was made in relation with the need to understand this jungle of different sounds and to try to give to each manifestation reason to be..., Well, you see is not so easy to move in this century and the past century. Can be easy when, like most of the people, we choose the beautiful way of nice harmonies and melodies, but sometimes these things sound a little bit outdated, I mean we have many gaps in our music education and we have lost the sense of hearing in many ways, I mean the hearing processes that give us the opportunity to discover new sense and new direction of hearing the tone...we are confused and we refuse many fields of new music because the approach is encapsulated in some notion of “what the music shoud be”. For those that music has to be orderly, according to some very flat principles, it is very hard to change this order of perception. I speak about sounds and music, they are two different things. Regarding the evolution of classical music, artists like Stockhausen, Luigi Nono, John Cage etc. are part of a musical elite, and it is them who teach us to listen to music in a way that is much more in relation to our daily living, and it was them, who have opened new dimensions of hearing, but we still consume the same great composers. That is correct, but we need to make the next step in our hearing process. In my personal work, I have come to a point, where I wasn’t just satisfied with making a nice frame, nice picture, so I broke the frame and came across different artistic expressions, and began to work with complex installations (www.memoria.ch), where all senses are being activated, looking, hearing, smelling, touching and I started to assemble tone works. It is also the case in my exhibition “The daily physiology”, where I put together installation and video with many noises of and tones of daily life. It’s been 6 years now that I am making music on a regular basis, and new horizons have opened up and I feel a great increase of potential on all levels of making art. I began to play music with different instruments, also the computer (sampling, programming). Music is a very serious thing to me, and I want to remain very honest towards my work. Thank you for your attention.
