Hey guys. One thing you won't find here is me referring to myself in third person, as if someone else wrote my bio. Not my style. I prefer to talk to you not at you. I suppose this is the section where I'm to give you a piece of my history so that you'll feel a bit more connected and familiar with me. So here goes. Born in the 80s to a God-fearing, REAL woman. I'd like to think that was passed on to me, because those are two characteristics I definitely hold. Moved around (within the city) alot due to some extreme (!!!) circumstances, but God still provided. I have an older brother, but he was out of the house by 18, so many times it felt as if I were an only child. I discovered poetry and writing early. It was my thing..that no one else could tamper with or "improve". I wrote up until age 13 or 14, then I stopped. No particular reason, I just stopped. My mother encouraged me to begin writing again..because according to her, when it came to gifts (or anything for that matter) "use it or lose it". I didn't listen..yet. Life went on. In high school, I was apart of the speech and drama team. Though I didn't see this taking me anywhere after high school, I got so much fulfillment and enjoyment from it. Life went on. One day at work, I begin working on a song. Out of the clear blue. I think I was 19 or 20. By age 23, I'd written upwards of 100 poems and songs. It was also at the age of 23 that I discovered The Underground Poets Society. Decided to check it out and see what it was about. Ha..my "check out" turned into member which turned into Moderator which turned into Global Moderator back to member (too busy!). The Un.P.S. is where I honed my poetry skills and really began taking an active approach toward my work. I owe much to my family at Poetry, Rhythm and Soul. Man, without them, I don't think I'd even be on the spoken word scene. Through them, I've been introduced to several spoken word venues in which I've received positive reviews and encouraging words. At the end of the day though, I do this for God. I'll never compromise Christ to make sure my pockets are right. It's not worth it. What you'll mostly hear from me is spoken word about God and holiness, life and society. Pretty broad, no? Anyway, if you've made it this far down into my bio, you must really be interested in what I have to say. Appreciate that. God bless.
So, I'm sure you've heard by now..I co-wrote a poetry book!!
