The year was circa 1978. In the back seat of the family sedan, on the way home from the band instrument rental shop, the sounds coming from my first trumpet were "uncertain" at best. 30 years later, that sound has transformed into what Angella Christie — Gospel's Premier Saxophonist—describes as "smooth, intentional and relevant".I know and understand that it is the anointing of Holy Spirit and the empowerment from the heavenly realm that enables me to make a certain sound; an unmistakable sound that invites the hearer into true worship. My desire is to worship the Almighty God and create an atmosphere for others to do the same.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: sottm.com
Band Members: I've been blessed to work with some of the best. Check out my top friends
Influences: My priority is to be under the influence of my heavenly Father, who redeemed me to Himself through HIS Son, and keeps me connected by His Spirit. That foundation was laid at home by my parents and developed by several Pastors, especially Craig E. Hancock (Detroit, MI) and Kevin D. Golden (Cleveland, OH). During my matriculation at Miami University (you see drop that big word?), I was mentored by Dr. John Freeman (now in Yellow Springs, OH). My wife and I learned to partner in ministry under Bishop and Pastor Glenn and Cheryl Frazier. One of the most profound influences in our life has come from Sis. Peggy Moore (Toledo, OH). I developed a spirit of faith under Drs. Michael and Dee-Dee Freeman (Temple Hills, MD). I am now maturing as a Father and Husband under the leadership of Joshua Harris (Gaithersburg, MD).As far as trumpet, I first listened to Chuck Mangione, Wynton Marsalis and the late great Maynard Ferguson (what a combination, huh?). Later I got introduced to Phil Driscoll, Chiz Rider and Rod McGaha (it was so cool to learn about christian trumpeters. Granted good trumpet playing is good trumpet playing. But, I play for the Kingdom, so it was good to find some examples of others doing the same). As far as teaching, I have patterned myself after two teachers in particular, Dr. Myles Munroe and Dr I.V. Hilliard. I appreciate them in particular, because they demonstrate the levels of wisdom and teaching acumen that I believe are being developed in me.

What is "sin"?

I need your help:   I have frequently heard "sin" defined as 'missing the mark.'  This has been illustrated by the circles on a target.  There is the "bull's eye" in the center, and th...
