About Me

Hi! We’re Tom and Toni Johnson, and thanks for checking us out! We reside in Inverness, a small town in Central Florida. We have had an interest in missions for nearly a decade and a half, particularly to the beautiful country of Guatemala where our best friends, Andrew and Becky Loveall are full-time missionaries who started and oversee schools and feeding programs in and around Antigua and the mountain region of Patzun. My husband Tom is employed by our local hospital in the business office, where he is responsible for accounts receivable. Last November, he was elected to serve on the City Council, a job which he very much enjoys. Tom also has many years’ experience in the service industry doing safety and sanitation inspections for a very large nationally known company. He has also done construction and ‘handy-man’ work as the owner of a small remodeling business. We are originally from northern Illinois; Tom is from Rockford and I am from Chicago. I work as a Registered Nurse for a managed care company doing Utilization Review. I call it “cyber-nursing” as it is done via computer and telephone. I have the privilege of working from home. I also spent many years working in home health care both as a case manager and agency supervisor and director as well as hospital nursing and hospice. We have been married for over 20 years and are expecting our first grandchild in May. Tom has led teams of construction and maintenance workers to Guatemala to assist with building classrooms and doing maintenance and repair work to schools and other buildings in the mountain villages of Chiuquel and Chuchuca. Our desire is to continue to be able to lead such teams as well as teams of medical workers to examine and treat the health care and hygiene needs of these very poor, impoverished people who have never had the opportunity to see a doctor. We also bring school supplies and medical supplies with us as we travel. We have a deep desire to fulfill one of God’s greatest commands, and that is taking care of the needs of widows and orphans. Since the civil war in Guatemala, there are thousands of widows and orphans with extreme needs, physical, mental and spiritual. To that end, our long-range goals are to build homes for the extremely poor, bring fresh, potable water to the villages and schools, and to start a recycling program of used medical equipment to take to the doctors and clinics there. We can not do this alone. We need your help. Please prayerfully consider assisting us in our work. For more information, please visit our website at www.heartsoverlatinamerica.org. Thank you in advance!

I'd like to meet:

"God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them". - Hebrews 6:10 NIV

Christ Jesus who died – more than that who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? Romans 8: 34-35 NIVPraise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4
