yes... PRENTICE is my REAL name!

Im a DORK , Nerd, cool, different and a SQUARE to some, and im totaly oKAY WITH IT!!!Mainly because i dont follow trends..And i love it.Cuz thats just me...It took me a lonnng time to be comfortable with who I am...take it or leave it.To some ,im not "hood" enough, in other enviorments,im too BLACk.. Im ME but honestly im not going to type my whole life story on here....lol.............THIS IS WHAT I DO.MY PASSION,MY THERAPY...However it does not define me just like anything else in my life.It is a PART of me.......................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ .............I am not "DEEP"..Im just Aware..Im not angry...But at times our generation makes me upset.i hate the phrase "KEEPIN IT REAL" because most of the people who use it...DONT................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ....... I recently won the award for 2007 SPOKEN WORD ARTIST OF THE YEAR by the Black Music Awards i am the arts in education consultant for youth speaks youthspeaks.org i have 2 afterschool programs.one in east oakland and one in San Francisco.i also have a residency at tennyson highschool teaching creative writing workshops i go into schools and put on assemblies and workshops introducing spoken word to youth I think when people hear the word "poet" they automatically get a certain oppinion or vision on that person. Its possible to just be AWARE.I dont beleive in talking about anything i cant live OFF of the microphone.Im an young man trying hard to be a living example that you dont have to dribble a basketball or have a platinum chain in order to succeed or make a difference.In no way is that a diss to any athelete or rapper/M.C..Its just that most of them we see on t.v have no talent. Im very outgoing but at the same time shy.AND CAN BREAK ANYONE OFF ON THE DANCE FLOOR!!(yeah.i said it)......................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ...HE is the 2006 OAKLAND/SAN FRANCISCO GRAND SLAM CHAMPION. After writing his FIRST poem in 2003 "streets"..Prentice unknowingly was signed up to be in an open mic at Oakland's BLACK BOX.After that he wrote a new poem each week while competing to be on the 2003 Oakland slam team.He made it, and along with Nercity, Scorpio Blues, and Danielle Drake burnett( Souls journey) They made it to the final stage and placed 7th in the nation.Prentice placed in the top13 in the nation 2 and a half months after writing his first poem.He recently attempted to slam again and is now a member of the 2006 Oakland slam team He can be found in everywhere from california to new YorkAND SOON SOUTH AFRICA speaking and performing.he does more than just talk on the microphone, but is a firm believer in pracicing what you preach. He is highly active in his community and also teaches creative writing workshops in schools inside and out of inner city communities.Just NOW as of 2006 Prentice has decided to pursue his PASSION of spoken word.He hosts the Bay Area's Hottest SPOKEN WORD OPEN MIC VENUE....MOUTH OFF WEDNESDAYS(located at the AIR LOUNGE.492 ninth st.downtown oakland) He can be found anywhere there is a microphone or a sreet corner where youth are walking unguided..... He is BY FAR........ The HUNGRIEST UP AND COMING POET.... He never claims to be the best..And never will...There are enough artist who unfortunately have lost their desire and forgotten why they started doing this... But you WILL know about him...Like it or not....
