About Me

Read my real blog at FreemanWicklund.org

I wish people would treat non-human animals the way that they would want to be treated if they had been born non-human. Yeah. So if you were a chicken, you probably wouldn't want people cramming you in tiny, filthy, disease-ridden metal battery cages so they could exploit you for your eggs. That's where 95% of our eggs come from. Check out my pictures and ca4a.org for an inside view of egg production facilities. Then go to ChooseVeg.com to order a vegetarian starter kit and become vegan. Thanks!

It may come as a shock to you, but I support animal rights. Be a friend, and watch this video:

My Interests

Having fun with friends and people of all kinds, club dancing, walking, jogging, board games (especially strategy ones like Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan), biking, writing, reading, intellectual conversations about things that matter, camping, public speaking, jokes, humor, social justice, animal rights and now blogging .I recently moved to Columbus, Ohio to work as the Director of Campaigns for Mercy For Animals . Follow the link to learn about MFA, veganism, upcoming events and volunteering opportunities.

I used to live in DC for a few years. Before that I lived in Norfolk, VA. Before that, I lived in the Twin Cities (Minnesota) where I loved eating vegan pizza at Pizza Luce, chilling at Boom, and dancing at the Saloon, the Metro (now closed), the Gay 90's, and and several other clubs.

Sometimes I'm disheartened by how cruel people are to each other and animals. I wish people would try harder in their lives to reduce the suffering in the world -- especially suffering caused by their own actions.Let's see... other stuff about me... I got my degree in nutrition from the University of Minnesota, I also don't drink or smoke. I also like hearing and telling jokes and having fun. If you want to know more, you will have to communicate with me.

I'd like to meet:

Most everybody.

Music:

I love music tons, but I'm too cheap to spend much money on it. Some of the many artists I like include Liz Phair, Chumbawumba (BTW, they've been around for decades), Good Charlotte, The Smiths, Morrisey, The Faint, Seven Seconds, Cheesy pop stuff, pop punk, punk stuff, and things I can dance to that have lyrics, and lots more.

Movies:

I liked Chicken Run and Babe for their awesome message (stop eating animals) as well as Legally Blonde II (Ban animal testing). Other movies I like include: Battle Royale, The Bride of Chucky, Beautiful Thing, Farenheight 9/11, Super Size Me, The Scary Movie series, The Ring, The Scream trilogy, Wild Reeds, Hiway, etc.

Television:

I don't own a TV, but when one is around I will watch the new Dr. Who, the Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Otherwise, I think TV is of the devil.

Books:

I love to read. I generally read nonfiction on whatever I'm interested in at the moment. Right now I'm reading a bunch of books on grammar, punctuation, and writing. I also read the various newsletters from gay rights, animal rights, environmental and population-stabilization groups that I belong to or support.

Heroes:

Anyone who has the courage to overcome his or her selfish desires in order to respect animals as the feeling individuals they are. Thanks to everyone who helps make the world a place where animals are not eaten, worn, used for entertainment, hunted, or experimented on.
