CEANDRIS

About Me

Natural can be described as someone regarded as destined to succeed. Quite simply, natural can be summed up as God-given or God-inspired because it comes so easily.Raised in a small town of Caroline County Virginia, Ceandris, born NaShana Ceandris Ferguson, grew up in a family where music comes naturally. At the tender age of 4, she began singing in her local church choir and quickly rose from the chorus to a soloist. It wasn’t long before word of “the little girl with the big voice” spread quickly which resulted in requests for Ceandris to sing at various functions and enter talent competitions. When Ceandris was 14 years old, she received a personal request from the legendary Dorothy Norwood to sing back-up at a local gospel concert. After that concert, the requests for Ceandris’ sweet and soulful sound came non-stop. Staying true to her gospel roots, her phenomenal rendition of I Love the Lord won her first place in the Heart of Virginia Festival. A few weeks later, the Praise Fellowship Youth Choir of St. Peter Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia invited her to be a part of a special project – recording a live CD entitled “When Praises Go Up”. Once the CD project was completed, Ceandris traveled with the choir to various cities opening concerts for national recording artists Fred Hammond, Helen Baylor and Nancy Jackson. Most recently Ceandris has been blessing the good people of Richmond, Virginia with her sweet sounds. Not only has she made an impression on large groups of people performing at local spots such as karoke night at Applebee’s, The Cosmopolitan Lounge, The Crossroads Lounge, The Canal Club and the 2007 Spring Step Show in Williamsburg, Virginia, she has made quite an impression with local radio station executives. A DJ with 106.5 The Beat overheard her singing as she pumped gas. He took her demo back to the station and soon thereafter she was asked to perform at the 2nd Street Festival. Additionally, her producer’s persistence paid off one day when he just happened to drop by a Charity remote being held at WalMart by Radio One (92.1, 104.7 & 105.7 KISS FM). After he played three of her singles, she was an instant hit with the Operations Manager, Program Direction and Sr. Sales Manager. Not only did Ceandris find herself at one of the radio station’s sales meetings in front of the entire staff singing her songs but she received an open invitation to perform at one of Richmond, Virginia’s hottest Summer Jamz – Stone Soul Music & Food Festival. It’s truly a blessing to be invited to perform on the same stage with so many talented artists such as Tre Songz, Doug E. Fresh and Mario just to name a few.Making sure people “get it” and truly feel where she’s coming from is of the utmost importance to Ceandris, who penned most of the songs on her album, most written on-the-spot in the studio. “I want to create something so real and reflective that people just sit back and listen like, ‘Damn, was she in my window last night because that really happened to me,’ ” says Ceandris. “Everyone has gone through something that’s on my album and I want to be able to articulate their feelings.”Ceandris has the wisdom, the attitude and most of all, the voice to deliver. She is a gifted singer and songwriter, with serious talent and a young woman that has a lot to say and her own unique way of saying it.
