About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
I'm actor, as well as a writer who publishes a a blog , and I just wrote my first play. I am a member of TheSpyAnts Theatre Company, a group whom I discuss in my "interests" section (click on the logo below to see our website).Photography was my first love, going all the way back to when I was in sixth grade. I love 35mm, and don't have a digital camera, save for the one on my cell phone. I'm not a technophobe, but to me the only thing digital has over 35mm is convenience. The texture of 35mm prints is far and away superior to that of digital, and while you can futz around on photoshop to get the same effect, to me it still isn't the same. Plus, a digital SLR - the only digital camera worth having if you ask me - costs several critcal body parts, so right now, it's out of the question.I love to read, see movies and plays, sports, and since I have a degree in history, learning what makes countries, institutions, and people tick. In other words, discovering what Paul Harvey calls "the rest of the story."

My Interests

I'm a member of TheSpyAnts, a group of people I love and admire tremendously. Come see our shows, and you'll see why. Besides theatre and acting, I love music. When I was younger, I used to search for cool new bands and music, and while the real world and it's responsibilities have curtailed this activity somewhat, it's still something I like to get to now and again.I also enjoying working out and staying in shape. I have my vices - a good steak, burger, or pizza together with tall cold one, for example, or anything that not coupled with a regular exercise regimen may kill you prematurely.I'm a big sports fan, especially football. I've lived and died with the Browns since I was 10, though my heart also goes out to the Seattle Seahawks since I lived in the Emerald City for 12 years. My heart also goes out to baseball and basketball, but there's something about the cold and snow and the steel grey skies of december that makes football so dramatic and memorable.

Music:

My tastes have evolved over the years, but constant favorites have been Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party (plus many of other bands that have sprung from this group, such as Crime & the City Solution, These Immortal Souls, Rowland S. Howard, Mick Harvey, Jacobites, Swell Maps, to name just a few), The Dirty Three, Joy Division, Einsturzende Neubauten, The Doors, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, to name but a few entries on a far from complete list. I also love classical music, and have recently been listening to jazz. In fact, my radio is often dialed down to K-JAZZ 88.1.

Movies:

I have always loved the way the films of Oliver Stone and Martin Scorsese are shot, as both are visually arresting filmmakers. I've also liked This Boy's Life, Joe (one of Susan Sarandon's first ever movies), HUD, Cool Hand Luke, The Graduate, Silence of the Lambs, The Straight Story, In The Company of Men, and Reds, in what is also a far from complete list.

Television:

Family Guy, Nip/Tuck, Boston Legal, Cheaters (yes, I watch cheaters every once and awhile. It's a guilty pleasure).

Books:

Jack Kerouac was an early inspiration (On the Road, Dharma Bums, Town & The City), as were many of the other beats. I also liked The Monkeywrench Gang by Edward Abbey, White Noise and Libra by Don Delillo, Slaughterhouse Five, Deadeye Dick, and Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut, The Glass Teat by Harlan Ellison, The Most Beautiful Woman in Town, Ham On Rye, and Hot Water Music by Charles Bukowski, Last Exit to Brooklyn by Hubert Selby, Leaving Las Vegas and Stripper Lessons by John O'Brien, Harvey & Eck by Erin O'Brien, American Psycho by Brett Easton Ellis, This Boy's Life by Tobias Wolfe, Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn by Henry Miller. and many others. I'm also a big fan of biographies.

Heroes:

People who can read between the lines. Also anyone who is willing to take risks for other people and things they care about.
