The Fabulous Filters were founded in 2002 as a project of the guitarist Claudio Sala and the bass player Matteo Badellino, who share a strong passion for the 60’s music. The singer Renato Sala, the drummer Antonio Cerchiaro and the guitarist Andrea Passini completed the line-up.
Helped in their stylistic choices by the ideologue Gianfranco Salzani, the band decided to focus on a selection of Beat classics by The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Animals, The Creation, beside some original pieces.
After a frantic period of live performances in several towns in the North of Italy, such as Como and surroundings (Milonga Pub, Ultimo Caffè, All’unaetrentacinquecirca, Rocksound Cafè, Caffè degli artisti), Milan (Sakhalin, Drome, Hitchcock cafè, Golden River Pub), Lecco (Cantina del Circolo del libero pensiero), Mestre (Jam club), Trento (Soultrain), The Fabulous issued two demos, called Beat Fever I and II. Including only covers, these sold 400 copies in 1 year.
Aside this, they played at the 47th National Mod Rally in Marina di Massa with a great success.
Their first eponymous album, including only original tracks, was released in 2004 by the Fabulous themselves. To promote it they went on a small tour in Northern Italy.
With its sixties-oriented sound and design, the album was warmly welcomed by the sector press, who interviewed Claudio Sala and Matteo Badellino. Their music was broadcast by some radios during programmes concerning the 60’s Beat, soul, Rhythm’n’Blues, and they were also guests of Radio Lupo Solitario (Varese), within the programme Combat Rock.
After a one-year break and a change in their line up, in 2007 The Fabulous Filters have restarted their live activity. Since June Sebastiano Cugno has been the sparkling vocalist of the band. Their set list has been updated with new original pieces, which will be collected in a new album soon.
