There's always that arguement about who was the greatest ever. I can make it easy for you. Pele attended a dinner pre 82 world cup with the brazil squad (Zico, Junior, Socrates, Falcao etc..)and he was asked by one of the players who the greatest player he had ever seen was. I don't need to conclude that story.
When Northern Ireland played against Holland in the mid 70's in Rotterdam (Northern Irelands home game due to the troubles) a reporter asked him if he thought Cruijff was a better player than him. Geordie laughed and bet the reporter that he would put the ball between Cruijff's legs during the game. Not only did he knutmeg Johan the first time he got the ball but he also scored 2 goals and Cruijff and Neskins where fighting over his shirt at the final whistle only to be told that he had promised the shirt to a kid who lived in the same street where he had grown up.
Of the people and he never forgot it. That's why we loved Geordie Best, the last true working class hero.
