Trailer for Tank Euro Tour DVD released Nov 19th
A two-piece rock band of Leeds. Andy plays odd-strung-and-tuned baritone gtr through a gtr and bass amp using a morley switch pedal. James plays a bass drum, snare drum and cymbals with sticks in his hands. Formed as a sad joke and perpetuated by lies, 'the tank' (or Death Fucking Tank as they are known in Belgium) have played many, many gigs ranging from a bedroom in a Barcelonian pent-house to an outdoor tramp-infested festival in Derby. And everything in between.
James and Andy have been blessed with the ability and nonce to visit and play throughout Spain in September 2004; Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Switzerland and more with excellent twats Poltergroom in December 2004; an adventure around the UK in April 2005 with Spanish furry synth-counterparts Grabba Grabba Tape. In August 2005 they played at Sant Feliu hardcore festival alongside Unsane, Today is the Day, Enon and Lungfish, swam and snorkled and drank beer. There largest tour to date was shortened by a mump infestation in Europe, April 2006. A short tour of the UK with heroes US Maple occured in July 2006. That Fucking Tank have also had the good fortune to play with a ton of their contemporaries like Hella, The Fucking Champs, Don Caballero, Oxes, Hoover, Kid Commando, Vialka, Whitehouse, Wolf Eyes, AIDS Wolf, GI Joe, Hot Snakes, Chevreuil, Q and not U, Ex Models, Stinking Lizaveta, Clara Clara and the like.
That Fucking Tank have recorded things and those things have become available to the public. The first instance became 'A Document of the First Set', recorded in a few brief moments in the top of a pub before a William E Whitmore gig. Jealous records turned it into a cd and that came out march 2004ish.Then they wrote another song and it was called 'Making a meal for Beethoven', it was good so James recorded it on to 4 track porta-studio in Mook rehearsal studios and it got put on the Obscene Baby Auction compilation 12" 'Old Baby Sex Scene'. Then after a full jaunt round Europe a great man called Moz recorded That Fucking Tank's new set of songs in Hall Place rehearsal space using 2 microphones. It was 28th December 2004 and the sounds on this here internet are off that. Another 8 minutes of it got put on to one side of a 7" where the other side contained 4 Grabba Grabba Tape songs. The 8 minutes got named Andrew and James. They sold this when they toured UK but may have some left. A version of 'Red' by King Crimson was attempted and that got released as a split 7 inch with excellent Monster Killed by Laser who also do a King Crimson song. That is on Run of the Mill Records. Finally it was appropriate timing to record full and proper so Andy and James went to a Bed and Breakfast in North Wales with uber-producer Robert Whiteley. They played in a big barn filled with ace microphones for a couple of hours and Rob captured it in his computer. This became the album 'Day of Death by Bono Adrenalin Shock' dedicated to U2's bell-end front dwarf.
That Fucking Tank then wrote a load of new songs using Andy's especially weighty aluminium baritone guitar made by the electrical guitar company. These songs were longer and required singering to make them more interesting. Enter long-time compadre, ex-Kill Yourself and Danananaykroyd fronter and nicely housed vegan Giles Bailey. Two songs were recorded in the packhorse pub by Ben Gardner and have made it out as a 7 inch picture-disc record with free two-piece Euro tour DVD so you can see what it's really like touring arbout in a Renault Kangoo.
That Fucking Tank like to tour, can play anywhere and are fully self-sufficient. Give them space to play, food, booze and petrol money and watch them go. Please get in touch.
