Obscene Baby Auction has been putting on diy gigs in Leeds since late 2000 and is a manifestation of the brotherly love and shameless self promotion of good pals Andy Abbott, James Islip, Giles Bailey and Graham Pilling.
Obscene Baby Auction is less of a record 'label' and more of a collective that documents what's happening in the diy music community. Obscene Baby Auction first pressed music to vinyl in March 2002 and has since continued to put music by bands it likes onto this format.
Obscene Baby Auction has no distribution other than the records carried by bands who are touring or shops that get in touch. This means if you want Baby Auction records you have to go to see the bands live or contact us directly. It also means you get your records close to cost price as no one takes a cut bar a few pennies for the bands.
Obscene Baby Auction's concern is not to act as a promotional tool for bands wanting to 'break into' various scenes but to celebrate live music and people providing their own entertainment. We aim to support and develop a national diy music community and provide souvenirs for you to treasure after seeing decent live bands.
Obscene Baby Auction was based in a room in a house in Leeds. We welcome all correspondence and are happy to share our ideas and limited knowledge and skills. Feel free to get in touch and most importantly, PLEASE BUY ALL OUR RECORDS ON VINYL FROM www.obscenebabyauction.tk
NB. Due to other commitments Obscene Baby Auction moves at the pace of a crawling infant. Contact via this myspace page is not the most effective means of communicating with us but when we are organising gigs we'll check your friend requests etc then. Please don't be offended by our tardiness.
