WE TOUR FOR BEER AND CIGGIES

About Me

Offcutts would probably have to be the most successful unknown Australian act in the world. Having emerged as the 'offcut's' of another project, they debuted in 2002 as a 3 piece combining elements of hip hop and beat poetry on the release of their debut EP ..Homestyles...
Added to high rotation on Triple J the lead single ..Hips.. was classified an undeniable underground hit and quickly followed with the even more accessible cross over dance hit ..Everybody's getting back to the music...
Not satisfied though with the continued support from radio and a healthy growing audience, Offcutts made another genre shift and came back with their most successful pop single to date ..Break It Down (James Brown).. off the Paper and Plastic Bag collection. From this release the band received international recognition, chosen as the theme music behind Sony Play Station games and included in a major ad campaign screening during the American super bowl.
In late 2004 Offcutts returned to the studio to work on their debut album, but in the mean time shared with their true fans a taste of what was to come through the release of The Singles Society. Including advance version and rare collectables, The Singles Society spanned a six month set of releases in 2005 and pricked the ear of radio once more with the beautiful acoustic piece ..The Lake.., critically acclaimed in the press as ..the best song in the history of the universe...
Having successfully covered almost every genre you can think of, producing a musical legacy that is comparable to no other within Australian music, Offcutts decided to strip it all back for their full length offering and do what they do best. Aptly titled ..What Happened Don..t Lie.., the long awaited Offcutts debut album is finally here. With the lead single Stand Back already rocking across the nation on Triple J and tracks from the new comer chosen to feature as the soundtrack in a major block buster film (staring Juliet Lewis and Donald Sutherland), Offcutts have return with yet another genre busting set of hits.
For those of us who have been fans; It has been just a question of when will the rest of the world realise what we have always known.. this band is incredible!
ROLLING STONE "****... Astounding!!..."
BEAT MAGAZINE ".. the best song in the history of the universe.."
TIME OUT ....have you ever gone to gig with no expectation and just seen a band play it as it is?...

filmed at various house parties, venues, and clubs in Melbourne and Sydney
let us know what you think!!
STAND BACK
monologue cocktails of government lies,
its a hundred percent proof islamic reprise,
chinese shoes, bullshit walks, friendly fire, terror talks,
cos I'm here to consume, so stand back,
and give me some room...
well, did you know its now illegal to protest in a public place?,
and if you've got something to say you do it on myspace,
company cars , full of kiddie porn stars, mail order brides, teenage suicide, third world debt, text message regret, sedition laws, the people the public adore,
so stand back,
cos I'm here to consume
we've all gone through "look don't touch",
now the time's come its much too much,
overwhelmed we all stop and stare,
look in mirrors and,
do our hair,
So, stand back , and give me some room,
cos I'm here to consume..
