About Me

Vinyl Factory Australia is the worlds newest record pressing plant. VFA provides a premium quality product as well as a level of service specific to record labels that require fast and consistent turnaround times for new releases and repeat orders. The plant exclusively manufactures using the EMI 1400 press - a unique machine that is widely regarded as the best press to emerge from vinyls heyday of the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Having been immaculately maintained during their lifetime and fully reconditioned before installation, the 1400 once again meets the needs of the current thriving market for quality vinyl. In addition to the presses, Vinyl Factory have located key engineering staff from the former EMI vinyl production plant at Homebush to maintain the historic quality and consistency of supply once associated with the 1400 presses. We believe in the vitality, importance and long term significance of the vinyl record for music culture and the music industry. To support this we now own and operate 3 vinyl record pressing plants: two in London along with our new plant in Marrickville, producing over 7 million records a year of all record formats. Vinyl Factory also publishes FACT magazine; a daily web site (www.factmagazine.co.uk) and bimonthly music review and events listing magazine and operates Phonica Records: an independent vinyl retail shop in the heart of Soho, London and an online service (www.phonicarecords.co.uk), offering the same knowledge, passion and quality to an audience around the world. Vinyl Factory also runs the Vinyl Factory Gallery and event space that hosts and promotes a range of events and exhibitions. We see not only a prosperous present for vinyl, but a sustainable future too one in which vinyl culture will continue to adapt and expand in tandem with digital technology. And we see ourselves at the heart of that process, supporting and providing avenues for labels and record buyers to enable that thriving culture to be accessible, both locally and globally. As an article in Music Week stated in May 2004: Many people are serious about vinyl, but Vinyl Factory really is serious about vinyl.
